Job summary

Western Digital Corporation in Penang is seeking a seasoned Finished Goods Quality & Packing leader to oversee FQAP operations, ensuring timely, quality-compliant shipments of finished media to HDD operations and meeting shipment plans.

The role requires mentoring Coordinators, Technicians, and Operators, maintaining IMS/RBA compliance, and partnering with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Planning and Logistics to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• 8–10 years in manufacturing/operations with 3–5 years in a managerial role.
• Experience in HDD, semiconductor, or high-volume precision manufacturing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily FQAP operations to meet HDD shipment commitments safely and on time.
• Drive end-to-end on-hold inventory disposition and aging control.
• Lead and develop a team of Coordinators, Technicians, and Operators through training and competency management.
• Maintain IMS, RBA and quality standards with audit readiness and continuous improvement.
• Act as the primary technical interface with partners, ensuring quality specs and issue resolution.

Job Description

Role Summary

Lead and manage Finished Goods Quality & Packing (FQAP) operations to ensure timely, quality-compliant shipment of finished media to HDD operations, meeting shipment plans and customer requirements.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead daily FQAP operations to achieve HDD shipment commitments safely, accurately, and on time, including monitoring shipment readiness, inventory availability, and operational risks with timely escalation and recovery actions.
• Drive end-to-end on-hold inventory disposition and shippable inventory aging control, ensuring timely closure of disposition actions and prevention of inventory exceedance through effective tracking and stakeholder follow-up.
• Lead and develop a team of Coordinators, Technicians, and Operators through structured training, certification, and competency management, ensuring consistent compliance with SOPs, safety requirements, and operational standards.
• Maintain FQAP compliance with IMS, RBA, and quality standards, owning Quality Objectives and driving audit readiness, corrective actions, error-proofing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Act as the primary technical interface with business partners, ensuring adherence to quality specifications, handling requirements, and accept/reject criteria, while driving resolution of packaging quality and customer-impacting issues.
• Represent FQAP in cross-functional meetings, provide clear communication on performance and risks, coordinate with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Planning, and Logistics, and elevate critical issues with defined recovery plans.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
• Minimum 8–10 years in manufacturing/operations, with 3–5 years in a managerial role

Preferred :

• Experience in HDD, semiconductor, or high-volume precision manufacturing preferred

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and 5S
• Proficiency in production planning systems such as SAP or MES
• Strong leadership, analytical, cross-functional communication, and problem-solving skills
