Job summary

MINCONSULT Sdn Bhd is seeking a Manager Power Plant (Electrical Engineer) to lead feasibility studies, conceptual designs and tender specifications for medium to large thermal power plants in Malaysia. You will evaluate EPC tenders, review contractor designs, and implement new technologies to optimize electrical systems.

The role requires a degree in Electrical Engineering and 10+ years in power plants, with strong knowledge of HV/substation design, international codes, and project management.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years in power plants—design, review, and project management.
• Strong understanding of thermal power plants.
• Familiar with international codes and local statutory requirements.
• Experience with HV/substation design is an advantage.
• Team player with good time management and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare feasibility studies, conceptual designs, tender specs and due diligence for medium to large thermal power plants.
• Evaluate EPC tenders and negotiate with contractors.
• Review contractor designs and calculations for compliance with specs and standards.
• Evaluate, recommend and implement new technology related to the system and equipment in the power plant.
• Communicate progress, constraints and solutions to clients; assist in proposal development, cost estimations and presentations.
• Coordinate with internal departments and external vendors for timely delivery.

Participate in evaluation of EPC tenders, negotiations with contractors

Requirements

Degree in Electrical Engineering

Preferably more than 10 years of working experience in power plants, such as in design, design review & approval, project management & supervision, etc.

Have good understanding of thermal power plants

Familiar with International Codes & Standards and local statutory requirements

A team player and working well with others

Effective time management and ability to meet datelines

Must have design experience and/or in-depth working knowledge in power plant electrical systems. Knowledge of HV / sub-station design is an added advantage
