Job summary

Camfil Malaysia is seeking a senior People & Culture leader to drive the Malaysia HR agenda in line with global and APAC regional directions. You will lead talent acquisition, compensation, learning, leadership development, and industrial relations for Malaysia-employed staff.

The role requires 8–10 years of broad HR experience, strong generalist skills across ER, recruitment, development, performance, and HR operations, and fluent English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Qualifications

  • Relevant university degree or equivalent competence.
  • 8–10 years of broad HR experience, including people management and business partnering.
  • Experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment preferred.
  • Strong generalist HR experience across employee and industrial relations, recruitment, development, performance and HR operations.
  • Solid knowledge of Malaysian employment law and regulations.
  • Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia; ability to advise and influence managers and staff.
  • Business judgment, strategic thinking and global-to-local process implementation.
  • Proficiency with HR information systems, data analysis, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Malaysia People & Culture priorities aligned with global and regional direction.
  • Lead, coach and allocate work across the People & Culture team; develop capability and set service standards.
  • Maintain local HR processes, controls and employee records per global requirements.
  • Advise leaders on workforce planning and organisational changes affecting Malaysia staff.
  • Manage complex employee and industrial relations matters, grievances and investigations.
  • Guide employee communication and engagement actions; follow up on feedback and surveys.
  • Embed the global Leadership Model in local management practices and employee experience.
  • Own local implementation of global performance management and talent reviews.

Job description

Partner with Camfil Malaysia people leaders in the plant as well as regional and global functions to address workforce, organisation and people matters. Translate global and regional priorities into local plans that support business needs, employee experience and Camfil leadership model.

Accountable for the delivery and compliance of the full People & Culture agenda for all Malaysia-employed staff. Responsibilities cover talent acquisition, employee and industrial relations, compensation and benefits, learning and development, leadership development, performance management, talent and succession, and HR operations. Lead and coach the People & Culture team.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Develop and implement Malaysia People & Culture priorities in line with business needs and global and regional direction;
  • Lead, coach and allocate work across the People & Culture team; develop team capability and ensure clear ownership, service standards and appropriate escalation;
  • Maintain effective local HR processes, controls and employee records, using approved HR & Payroll systems in line with global requirements;
  • Advise people leaders on workforce planning and organisational changes affecting Malaysia-employed staff; coordinate HR input to restructuring and other business projects;
  • Manage complex employee and industrial relations matters, grievances and investigations with fairness, confidentiality and compliance with Malaysian law;
  • Guide employee communication and engagement actions, including follow-up on employee feedback and employee engagement survey results;
  • Embed the global Leadership Model in local management practices and employee experience;
  • Own the local implementation of global performance management and talent review processes; guide managers on objectives, reviews, development actions and succession planning;
  • Partner with regional Total Rewards on job framework alignment, salary ranges, merit and promotion decisions, benefits and compensation budgets; ensure local recommendations follow approved global guidelines and decision authorities;
  • Set local learning and development priorities and budget and adapt global leadership programmes to local needs;
  • Oversee that talent acquisition and hiring decisions follow global guidelines. Coach hiring managers on selection and structured interviewing.
  • Ensure compliance with Malaysian employment and industrial relations law, applicable collective or local requirements, and Camfil policies;
  • Oversee payroll inputs, benefits administration, onboarding, offboarding and other HR operations, assigning transactional work appropriately and checking quality;
  • Oversee expatriate and mobility matters in Malaysia in coordination with relevant regional and global teams;
  • Work closely with VP People & Culture APAC and regional specialists to align local practice, share insights and elevate matters requiring regional decisions;
  • Lead local roll-out of global and regional People & Culture initiatives and participate in key cross-country projects.
Requirements
