Job summary

Hong Leong Bank seeks a Project Manager to lead the strategic delivery of high-criticality payment projects, including SWIFT, RENTAS, PayNet and ISO 20022 migrations, ensuring alignment with BNM standards and global trends.

The role reports to the Head of Global Payment Centre and drives end-to-end delivery, risk management, and regulator liaison for successful implementations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead full lifecycle of payment system upgrades from scoping to UAT and regression testing
• Ensure compliance with BNM guidelines, AML/CTF regulations and PayNet rules
• Manage ISO 20022 migration for SWIFT and RENTAS
• Drive operational improvements for efficiency and accuracy
• Assess operational risks and implement mitigation measures
• Deliver project statistics to senior management and regulators
• Build rapport with PayNet, SWIFT, and BNM for compliant implementations

Overview:

The Project Manager is responsible for the strategic leadership, management, and oversight of high-criticality payment projects. The role focuses on the end-to-end delivery of payment infrastructures such as SWIFT, RENTAS, PayNet (DuitNow, RPP, FPX), and Siron, ensuring they align with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) standards and global technology trends

The successful candidate will report to the Head of Global Payment Centre.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Functional (job responsibilities)

• Lead the full lifecycle of payment system upgrades, from scoping to UAT and regression testing.
• Ensure projects meet BNM guidelines, AML/CTF regulations, and PayNet rules.
• Manage the migration and integration of ISO 20022 standards for SWIFT and RENTAS.
• Drive work improvements to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.
• Assess operational risks and implement robust mitigation measures for payment migrations.
• Deliver project statistics and analysis to senior management and regulators.
• Build and maintain strong rapport with PayNet, SWIFT, and BNM to ensure smooth project implementation and compliance.

Jobholder Requirements

• Malaysian citizen.

Education/Qualification

• Diploma / Degree in any discipline or experience in payments or branch operations and risk management.

Experience/Requirements

• Minimum 8 years in payment operations or project management, specifically with SWIFT, RENTAS, and PayNet systems.
• Deep knowledge and experience with the ISO 20022 message standard.
• Understanding of the broader payments landscape and emerging payment technologies system e.g. SAA
• Proven rapport with PayNet and SWIFT is essential.
• Strong leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills
