Job summary

Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad seeks an independent credit analyst in Kuala Lumpur to evaluate Business Units and Treasury credit applications. You will prepare balanced credit assessment memos, verify spreading and grading, and propose credit solutions aligned with policy.

Responsibilities

• Prepare credit assessment memos communicating independent, balanced opinions.
• Verify financial spreading and credit grading as required.
• Develop credit solutions and structuring for business clients.
• Ensure proposals comply with regulatory and internal policies.
• Provide market/industry intelligence as needed.
• Contribute to Target Market and Risk Acceptance Criteria development.
• Assist in portfolio management and CMD guideline inputs.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by GCCO.

Job description

Act as an independent credit chain entity within the Credit Management function of Bank Islam to deal with the credit evaluation of Business Units and Treasury customers.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Evaluate/ appraise Credit Application from Business Units (especially larger cases) and Treasury Department in respect of:
  • New and additional financing.
  • Review and/or renewal of existing facility.
  • Variation and request from customer/applicant.
• Prepare the credit assessment memo to communicate the independent but balance credit opinions (arising from evaluation process above).
• Verifying financial spreading and credit grading, when and as required.
• Deliver methodical credit and financial analysis.
• Enhance on potential credit solutions & structuring for Business Units.
• Ensure credit proposals are in adherence to all external regulatory and internal credit policies and guidelines
• Provide market and industry-related "intelligence" via Industry Analysis and Reviews, when and as required.
• Assist in providing information relevant to the development of Target Market (TM) and Risk Acceptance Criteria (RAC).
• Assist in the management of overall bank’s portfolio via day to day activities or ad-hoc activities such as providing inputs on guidelines related to CMD.
• Other tasks as assigned by GCCO

Specific Skills/Knowledge and Certification Required

• Strong credit research and analytical skills as well as proficient in financial spreadsheet analysis.
• Good understanding and knowledge of external regulations and commercial laws.
• Possess the initiative and is detail oriented with a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to meet deadlines.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
