Job summary

Standard Chartered in Malaysia seeks an experienced Corporate Actions Specialist to manage custody operations, settlements and related corporate actions. You will authorize messages, notify clients, and coordinate responses with sub-custodians while ensuring timely disbursements and entitlements.

You will lead a small team, drive process improvements, and ensure adherence to SLA. A background in settlements and reference data is beneficial, with excellent communication skills essential for

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in corporate action activities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and proficient system skills.
  • Experience in a corporate action processing team with responsibility for approving transactions.
  • Knowledge of various types of corporate actions and SWIFT message formatting.
  • Familiarity with settlements, fund services, and reference data is advantageous.
  • Ability to co-lead or manage a small team.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of Custody operations, Securities Settlements, Corporate Actions, Financial Market Operations.
  • To authorize and control the dispatch of outgoing messages related to Corporate Action in CAPE.
  • Notify clients of Corporate Action events by SWIFT / Fax / e-mail / S2B or other DOI-specified mechanism.
  • Authorize responses to sub-custodians on options exercised and debit/credit client accounts for disbursement.
  • Authorize collection and disbursement of entitlements from corporate action events.
  • Authorize vouchers or Swift messages for transfer of funds across Nostro accounts.
  • Investigate all breaks related to cash, securities, and inventory reconciliation for corporate actions.
  • Ensure timelines per SLA; manage and develop team members; provide process training.
  • Drive automated control processes and monitor day-to-day controls and risk issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Knowledge of Custody operations, Securities Settlements, Corporate Actions, Financial Market Operations. Knowledge of Agent banking, Sub Custody operations and clearing will be an added advantage.
  • To authorize and control the dispatch of the outgoing messages related to Corporate Action in CAPE.
  • To notify the client of any Corporate Action event by means of SWIFT / Fax / e-mail / S2B or any other mechanism as may be specified in the DOI.
  • To authorize responses to sub-custodians on the option being exercised based on the response received from the clients and to debit / credit the clients account for disbursement processing.
  • To authorise proper collection and disbursement of resultant entitlements from corporate action events.
  • To authorise vouchers or Swift messages for Transfer of funds from and to Nostro accounts and transfer of funds across accounts based on the underlying instructions.
  • To perform investigation of all types of breaks relating to Cash and Securities and all other Inventory reconciliation outstanding / exceptions relating to Corporate Actions
  • Ensure all timelines are met with accuracy as per agreed SLA.
  • Managing the team members effectively, knowledge sharing among team members & developing individual skills of all team members.
  • Process training to new joiners, regular updates on the process change and incorporation of the changes in DOI.
  • Ensure a continual drive towards automated control processes.
  • Ensure proper functioning of day-to-day controls, periodic monitoring of activities and timely resolution of risk issues.
