Job summary

Wasco Berhad is seeking a seasoned renewable energy professional to lead BOOT project development in biomass and bioenergy in Malaysia. You will target FIT quotas, evaluate investment avenues, and drive V/J/M&A initiatives from due diligence to closure.

You will manage deal negotiation, financial feasibility, and regulatory compliance while building strategic partnerships to deliver profitable, sustainable energy solutions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of renewable energy project development experience.
• Proven track record signing BOOT contracts and securing FIT quotas.
• Strong knowledge of biomass, bioenergy, or waste-to-energy markets.
• Experience in JV/M&A and deal negotiation with due diligence expertise.

Job description

Drive growth by identifying, developing, and securing Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) projects in the biomass and bioenergy sectors. This role includes a specific focus on winning Feed-in Tariff (FIT) quotas, delivering profitable investment returns, and evaluating and executing strategic initiatives like JVs and M&As.

Core Responsibilities

Project Development: Origin and develop commercial biomass, bioenergy, and new green energy projects under the BOOT or appropriate model.

FIT & PPA Procurement: Navigate regulatory frameworks to successfully target and secure FIT quotas and Power Purchase Agreements.

Investment Valuation: Conduct financial and techno-economic feasibility studies for new investment projects to ensure strong returns.

Special Projects (JV/M&A): Evaluate, structure, and execute joint ventures, partnerships, and M&A transactions from due diligence to closure.

Deal Negotiation: Lead commercial negotiations for project agreements, fuel supply, and EPC contracts.

Key Requirements

Experience: 10+ years of experience in renewable energy project development, ideally biomass or bioenergy.

Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in signing BOOT contracts and securing FIT quotas.

Industry Expertise: Strong commercial knowledge of biomass, bioenergy, or waste-to-energy markets.

Deal-Making Skills: Solid background in financial feasibility, contract negotiation, and JV/M&A structuring.

Candidates with a proven track record of successfully identifying, submitting and securing similar quota opportunities will be highly preferred, such as FIT quotas.
