Job summary

Mills Recruitment partners with a leading Chinese electronics manufacturer to appoint a General Manager to lead the establishment of its new manufacturing operation in Malaysia, based in Penang.

Take ownership of the greenfield project from site selection through construction and production launch, coordinating with authorities, partners and suppliers. After commissioning, lead daily operations and shape long‑term growth for the Malaysia operation.

Qualifications

• Greenfield factory leadership experience preferred, especially in Malaysia.
• Proven ability to coordinate with authorities, partners and suppliers.
• Track record in managing large cross-functional teams and projects.
• Experience in electronics, semiconductors, or high-tech manufacturing is valued.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full greenfield factory project from site selection and approvals to construction and production launch.
• Manage local contractors, suppliers, service providers, and consultants including sourcing and contracts.
• Coordinate with government authorities on investment approvals, permits, licensing and workforce matters.
• Build and lead the local organization, including manpower planning, recruitment, and site operations.
• Oversee factory operations after commissioning, driving production, quality, delivery, costs and KPIs.
