Role Description

The Malay Transcriber (Remote) will be responsible for accurately converting Malay audio and video content into written text on a full-time basis. Day-to-day tasks include listening to recordings, transcribing spoken dialogue, tagging speakers, and applying appropriate formatting and style guidelines. The role involves verifying accuracy, correcting errors, and ensuring that transcripts meet quality, confidentiality, and turnaround-time standards. The Malay Transcriber will collaborate with project coordinators, follow detailed instructions and templates, and use transcription tools or platforms provided by DatoviaPlayHouse. This is a fully remote role, allowing the candidate to work from any location with a reliable internet connection.

Qualifications

• Strong command of Malay (native or near-native proficiency) and solid understanding of regional dialects and slang.
• Excellent listening skills and attention to detail for precise transcription of audio and video content.
• Ability to type efficiently with high accuracy and familiarity with basic transcription tools or audio playback software.
• Good written communication skills in Malay and the ability to follow style guides and formatting rules.
• Comfort with using online platforms, cloud-based tools, and maintaining secure, confidential handling of client data.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines, manage time effectively, and work independently in a remote environment.
• Prior experience in transcription, localization, or linguistic work is an advantage.
