SME Careers in Malaysia is seeking a Malay Language Specialist (remote contractor) to review and create high-quality Malay content for AI training. You will assess outputs for accuracy, grammar, tone, cultural appropriateness, and adherence to prompts, and provide precise feedback and rewrites.

You should have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, native Malay, strong English, 3+ years language-focused experience, and the ability to work independently across time zones.

Qualifications

• Native Malay proficiency (reading and writing)
• Strong professional proficiency in English (C1)
• 3+ years of language-focused work (writing/editing/QA/translation)
• Deep understanding of Malay grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style
• Comfort with regional Malay variations (Malaysia/Indonesia/Brunei) and formality levels
• High attention to detail for subtle meaning shifts and cultural accuracy
• Reliable, self-directed, able to deliver in hourly remote contractor workflow across time zones
• Prior AI data training/annotation or editorial QA experience is preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop AI training content: prompts and gold-standard Malay answers across domains
• Evaluate and rank AI outputs for fluency, correctness, tone and cultural fit
• Detect unsafe content, factual hallucinations, bias and policy-risk language; validate reliability across use cases
