Job summary

WPP Production in Malaysia is seeking a freelance Editor (Bahasa Melayu) to perform copyediting, proofreading and production editing for our technology client’s marketing communications. You will work closely with writers and creatives to maintain the highest standards and ensure clarity and accuracy across campaigns.

You will build strong relationships with in-market and global teams, delivering linguistically flawless campaigns on time, with flexibility to adapt to fast-changing needs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in copyediting and/or subediting for marketing and technical materials.
• Strong understanding of language conventions, style and usage.
• Experience with global brands and translation or project management tools.
• Knowledge of Bahasa Melayu and Malaysian language standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-country validation of customer-facing marketing content across digital, print and in-store communications, ensuring brand tone of voice consistency.
• Edit and proofread editorial, marketing, and social media copy.
• Collaborate with in-country teams on high-volume projects and meet tight deadlines.
• Maintain tone of voice, personality and cultural relevance for Indonesia.
• Manage multiple projects and ensure timely delivery.
• Utilize glossaries and style guides to ensure translation accuracy and consistency.
• Ensure linguistic accuracy, including grammar, spelling and cultural relevance.
• Provide ongoing linguistic guidance to translation vendors and project managers.
