Job summary

Samtec in Malaysia, Penang seeks a maintenance/equipment technician to support PM tasks, tooling assembly, and calibration. You will assist upgrades and perform light machining and basic electrical repairs, contributing to overall equipment availability.

The candidate should have 3–5 years in a technical manufacturing environment, solid MS Office familiarity, and the ability to multitask while following safety protocols. This on-site role emphasizes hands-on tooling and equipment support.

Qualifications

• 3-5 Years’ Experience in a Technical or Manufacturing environment.
• Must have 20/40 correctable vision.
• Experience as maintenance or equipment technician.
• Electrical experience including proximity sensors, servo motors, production cameras, programming and troubleshooting PLCs is a plus.
• Tool and Machine background including basic machinist skills, general die mechanics and bench work, and soldering is a plus.
• Familiar with MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Must be able to handle multiple tasks and work independently.
• Must be able to sit/stand for at least 90 consecutive minutes, with no sensory deprivation or paralysis.
• Not suffering from sensory deprivation or paralysis of the limbs.
• Lifting up to 50 pounds from floor to waist.
• Must adhere to safety rules; exposure to noise and hazardous materials; use PPE.
• CPR/First Aid/AED training

Responsibilities

• Coordinate assigned PM tasks with manufacturing to minimize machine downtime while maintaining a minimum of 90% OTD.
• Support Maintenance Supervisor or Engineering on projects related to equipment and/or equipment upgrades.
• Occasionally perform light machining and basic electrical controls repairs.
• Utilize Solution Center Tools Level 1 to communicate manufacturing issues that cannot be resolved on the production floor.
• Assemble and debug new tooling.
• Troubleshoot and maintain current tooling.
• Order and maintain purchased tooling, replacement tools and additional capacity.
