Job summary

JDE Peet's seeks a Maintenance Leader to ensure reliability and efficiency of Mix, Fill & Pack and R&G production equipment. You will lead maintenance teams, deploy PM and PdM programs, and drive continuous improvement while ensuring GMP, HACCP and ISO 22000 compliance.

You will optimize maintenance planning, support production changeovers, and manage spare parts and budget. This role requires strong leadership, technical know-how, and a focus on safety and quality across a fast-paced FMCG

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 5–8 years of maintenance experience in FMCG/food/beverage manufacturing.
• 2–3 years in a supervisory or leadership role; experience with packaging and filling equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead equipment reliability and maintenance for Mix, Fill & Pack and R&G lines; drive PM and PdM programs.
• Analyze root causes, reduce breakdowns, optimize maintenance planning and scheduling.
• Provide timely production support, coordinate changeovers, commissioning and shutdowns.
• Ensure safety, quality and food safety compliance (GMP, HACCP, ISO 22000).
• Manage spare parts inventory, budget, and capital projects; drive cost-efficiency and OEE improvements.

Job description

The Maintenance Leader is responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and efficiency of all Mix, Fill & Pack and R&G production equipment within the instant coffee and tea manufacturing plant. This role leads maintenance activities, drives preventive and predictive maintenance programs, minimizes equipment downtime, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures compliance with safety, quality, food safety, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Equipment Reliability & Maintenance

• Lead the maintenance and troubleshooting of Mix, Fill & Pack and R&G Mix & Pack production lines, including:
  • Mixing systems
  • Powder conveying systems
  • Filling machines
  • Packaging machines
  • Case packers and palletizers
  • Conveyors and material handling equipment
  • Utilities interfaces supporting the production area
• Develop and deployment of the preventive maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) programs.
• Monitor equipment performance and implement corrective actions to improve reliability.
• Analyse recurring equipment failures with BreakdownAnalysis and lead root cause analysis (RCA) activities.
• Reduce breakdown frequency and production downtime through effective maintenance planning.
• Own and lead breakdown elimination systems, maintenance planning and scheduling systems.
• Lead, coach, and develop maintenance technicians and contractors.
• Plan and allocate maintenance resources to support operational requirements.
• Ensure maintenance personnel are trained and competent in equipment operation, troubleshooting, and safety procedures.
• Develop technical standards used to close the competency gaps.

3. Production Support

• Provide timely technical support to production teams.
• Participate in production meetings and coordinate maintenance activities to minimize disruptions.
• Support changeovers, startups, commissioning, and shutdown activities.
• Ensure rapid response to breakdowns and emergency maintenance needs.
• Drive reliability improvement projects and equipment upgrades.
• Implements Manufacturing Operation Systems – roll out plan with hand on approach using the relevant tools.
• Support implementation of Autonomous Maintenance in line with AM Plan within shift through adherence to Cleaning Inspecting and Lubricating (CIL), Defect Handling , Centerline (CL) and perform AM Audit and closing actions identified on time in full.
• Utilize Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen, and problem-solving methodologies.
• Identify opportunities to improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
• Support automation and digitalization initiatives where applicable.

5. Safety, Quality & Food Safety Compliance

• Maintain compliance with:
  • GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
  • HACCP requirements
  • Food Safety Management Systems (FSSC 22000/ISO 22000)
  • Occupational Safety and Health regulations
• Ensure Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures are followed.
• Lead safety inspections and risk assessments for maintenance activities.
• Support internal and external audits.

6. Spare Parts & Budget Management

• Manage maintenance spare parts inventory and critical equipment components.
• Coordinate procurement of maintenance parts materials and services.
• Own, manages and optimizes maintenance costs and ensure activities remain within budget.
• Optimizes the cost for spare parts balancing availability with "Just In Time" replenishment systems.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising reliability.

7. Project Management

• Support installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and OEMs.
• Participate in factory expansion and capital investment projects.
• Ensure projects comply with quality, safety, and engineering standards.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.

Experience

• Minimum 5–8 years of maintenance experience in FMCG, food, beverage, coffee, tea, dairy, or consumer goods manufacturing.
• Minimum 2–3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Experience with packaging and filling equipment is strongly preferred.
