Job summary

Suntar Membrane Technology Sdn. Bhd. in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, is seeking an M&E Maintenance Engineer (Mandarin speaker preferred) to support field-based water treatment plant operations.

You will perform scheduled maintenance, diagnose faults and repair mechanical and electrical equipment at client sites, with on-call duties. The role requires a qualification in mechanical/electrical/mechatronic engineering, at least 3 years of M&E maintenance experience, and presence in Johor Bahru.

Qualifications

• Certificate, diploma or higher qualification in mechanical, electrical or mechatronic engineering.
• At least 3 years of M&E maintenance experience.
• Water or wastewater treatment plant background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair of pumps (horizontal, submersible, screw and metering pumps), Roots blowers, air compressors, mixers, screw press, odour-removal fans and overhead cranes
• Conduct laser alignment, replacement of bearings, mechanical seals, impellers and belts, oil changes, vibration and temperature checks
• Inspect and repair pneumatic butterfly valves, actuators, motorised gates, pipes and flanges
• Inspect and troubleshoot motors, VFDs, MCC panels, local control stations, solenoid valves and limit switches
• Support PLC system checks including I/O checks, signal verification and program backup
• Calibrate online instruments (pH, conductivity, ORP, turbidity, DO) and verify flow meters and gauges
• Respond to emergency call-outs: remote response within 15 minutes, on-site arrival within 4 hours, operation restoration within 8 hours, and failure report submission within 24 hours
• Assist with water sampling and testing of routine parameters using portable kits
• Manage spare-part withdrawal from and replenishment to client stores and maintain spare-parts ledger
• Submit service reports after each visit and monthly equipment status reports; train client operators at least twice a year

M&E Maintenance Engineer (Mandarin Speaker preferred)

M&E Maintenance Engineer for water treatment plant operations based in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. This is a field-based, non-resident position reporting to the Head of Malaysia. The role involves scheduled maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment at client water treatment facilities, with on-call emergency response requirements.

Key responsibilities

Perform scheduled maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair of pumps (horizontal, submersible, screw and metering pumps), Roots blowers, air compressors, mixers, screw press, odour-removal fans and overhead cranes

Conduct laser alignment, replacement of bearings, mechanical seals, impellers and belts, oil changes, vibration and temperature checks

About you

Certificate, diploma or higher qualification in mechanical, electrical or mechatronic engineering

At least 3 years of M&E maintenance experience

Water or wastewater treatment plant or industrial plant background preferred

Skilled in repairing rotating equipment such as pumps, blowers and compressors, including laser alignment

Able to read electrical schematics and control circuits and troubleshoot motors, VFDs and MCCs

Basic knowledge of Siemens S7 PLC and HMI is a plus

CIDB Green Card or NIOSH safety passport preferred

Must live in Johor Bahru and be able to reach site within 4 hours of a call; own transport and valid driving licence; available for night, weekend and holiday call-outs

Good command of English and Malay; Mandarin is an advantage

Competitive salary plus transport or mileage allowance
