Job summary

Russell Tobin is seeking an experienced Linux Engineer in a hybrid role with 1–2 days onsite in Kuala Lumpur. The candidate will handle Linux OS environments, NixOS, and networking security across Firewalls and segmentation, working with Zeek, Suricata, and Cilium.

The role requires 8+ years in Linux/Network/Security Engineering, strong routing and switching skills, and excellent troubleshooting and documentation capabilities. Onsite collaboration and security deployment are key responsibilities.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Linux/Network/Security Engineering.
• Routing & Switching – Mandatory.
• Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with Zeek, Suricata, nftables and Cilium is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux OS environments.
• Support NixOS, RHEL, Guix, and Immutable OS platforms.
• Configure and troubleshoot nftables, stateful firewalls, security zoning, and network segmentation.
• Perform Layer 2 Routing & Switching configuration and troubleshooting.
• Support deployment and implementation of network/security solutions.
• Work with firewall technologies such as Cisco, FortiGate, Check Point, and Palo Alto.
• Support security monitoring and network analysis using Zeek and Suricata.
• Work with Cilium for network and security requirements.
• Troubleshoot complex Linux, network, and security issues.
• Maintain technical documentation and support implementation/change activities.
