Qualifications

Responsibilities

We are looking for School Librarian!

School: Aspiration International Primary School

Location: Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya

Job Details:

• Handle the full spectrum of school library management, including organising the library and ensuring its effective use by classes, groups, and individuals.
• Conduct and facilitate library lessons and learning activities for students during scheduled school hours, promoting reading, information literacy, research skills, and the effective use of library resources.
• Educate students and teachers on how to search for and access information using library databases, online databases, and other available resources.
• Instill and promote a love of reading, learning, and information literacy among students.
• Provide good customer service by handling enquiries relating to library materials, information searches, and library resources.
• Manage all circulation desk activities, including check-in/check-out, reservations, renewals, overdue notices, withdrawals, and related services.
• Responsible for cataloguing and processing new library materials.
• Maintain library records and the shelving system, ensuring that information is accurate and up to date.
• Perform regular audits of library information and inventory records, including annual stocktaking.
• Disseminate information regarding new arrivals, library resources, information literacy, and other relevant developments.
• Organise and host reading-related activities, including book sales, author signings, and other library events.
• Ensure that the library is clean, tidy, well-organised, and maintained in good condition at all times.
• Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned by the superior from time to time.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Information and Resource Centre Management, Library Management, Education, or any related field.
• Candidates with relevant qualifications or experience in school library management will also be considered.

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in a school or library environment.
• Experience in using library management systems and good knowledge of information literacy skills.
• Good command of written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia; experience in an international school environment is an advantage. Thank you!
