GAMER2GAMER SDN. BHD. in Kuala Lumpur seeks a lawyer to review and draft commercial agreements, including NDAs, vendor and distributor contracts, and data protection agreements.
You will maintain templates and clause libraries, liaise with cross-functional teams, and support litigation and corporate secretarial duties. Requirements include an LL.B, Malaysian Bar admission preferred, 1+ year PQE, and strong English with Mandarin and Bahasa Malaysia as advantages.
Review, mark up and draft commercial agreements, including non-disclosure agreements, vendor and supplier agreements, distribution and reseller agreements, payment gateway and payment service agreements, platform and technology agreements, amendments, side letters, letters of intent and memoranda of understanding.
Maintain and contribute to the Company’s contract templates, playbooks and standard clause library.
Liaise with Commercial, Finance, Product, Payments and Operations teams to obtain the factual and commercial inputs required to progress a review.
Support compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (Malaysia) and equivalent regimes in the jurisdictions in which the Group operates, including Singapore and Indonesia.
Review and draft data processing agreements, data sharing arrangements and cross-border transfer provisions.
Assist with the upkeep of privacy notices, internal data protection policies and records of processing.
Assist with data subject access requests, data protection impact assessments and breach triage, escalating material incidents immediately.
Maintain the contract register, including intake of newly executed agreements, key date capture and accurate filing of execution versions.
Track renewal, expiry, notice and termination dates and provide advance notice of upcoming deadlines.
Maintain complete and accurate legal records and ensure version control across all agreements.
Support the management of litigation and disputes, including liaising with external solicitors, tracking court timelines and filings, reviewing drafts prepared by external counsel and keeping internal stakeholders apprised of progress.
Assist with pre-action correspondence, demand letters and responses to third-party allegations.
Support corporate secretarial matters, including board and shareholder resolutions, statutory filings and maintenance of corporate records.
Support trademark registration, renewals and brand protection matters, including takedown and enforcement correspondence.
Conduct legal research across Malaysian and regional law and present findings concisely, with sources identified.
Prepare status updates and summaries for management.
Undertake ad hoc legal matters as assigned.
Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from a recognised university. Admission to the Malaysian Bar, or admission in another common law jurisdiction, is preferred.
Minimum one year of post-qualification experience gained in a law firm. Candidates with additional in-house experience are welcome to apply.
Demonstrable hands-on experience reviewing and drafting commercial agreements. This is the core requirement of the role.
Working knowledge of data protection law, in particular the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (Malaysia), is a significant advantage.
Strong written and spoken English, with the ability to explain legal issues clearly and concisely to non-lawyers. Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and Bahasa Malaysia is a significant advantage, given the Group’s regional counterparties and documentation.
Comfortable using contract management systems and AI-assisted legal tools for research, review and drafting, applying appropriate judgment, verification and confidentiality safeguards. This is a requirement of the role, not an optional skill.
Meticulous attention to detail, particularly in relation to defined terms, cross-references, numbering and internal consistency within agreements.
Able to manage a high volume of concurrent matters against short turnaround times and competing deadlines.
Genuine interest in gaming, digital goods, e-commerce or online marketplaces is an advantage.
Sound judgment in identifying material issues, distinguishing legal risk from commercial risk, and escalating promptly rather than resolving matters beyond the scope of the role.
Eligibility to work in Malaysia.
