Job summary

ONG & RAYMOND HOR in Malaysia seeks a qualified lawyer to manage and advise on SME-related matters, including conveyancing and civil litigation. You will draft documents, perform legal research, and liaise with clients and stakeholders to ensure timely, high-quality service.

The candidate should hold an LL.B, be called to the Malaysian Bar, and have 3+ years of relevant experience, with strong drafting, research, and bilingual English/Bahasa Malaysia skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) or equivalent qualification recognised in Malaysia.
• Called to the Malaysian Bar / admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor.
• Preferably with 3 years or more of relevant legal practice experience.
• Experience in SME-related legal matters or working with SME clients will be an added advantage.
• A proactive and positive attitude with a strong willingness to learn and develop professionally.
• Adaptable, responsible, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Good drafting, legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to manage multiple files and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Handle and manage assigned legal matters and files from commencement to completion
• Provide legal advice and opinions to clients on matters within the firm's areas of practice
• Draft, review, and prepare legal documents, agreements, letters, pleadings, cause papers, and other relevant documents
• Conduct legal research and keep updated on relevant laws, regulations, and legal developments
• Attend to clients, courts, land offices, banks, developers, government departments, and other relevant parties when required
• Handle conveyancing and/or civil litigation matters depending on the candidate's area of practice
• Monitor and follow up on the progress of files, deadlines, payments, and outstanding matters
• Liaise with clients, counterpart solicitors, banks, developers, and other stakeholders
• Attend court hearings, case managements, meetings, signings, and other appointments when required
• Work closely with clerks and other team members to ensure files are handled efficiently and promptly
