Job summary

City University Malaysia invites applications for a faculty role to design, deliver, and assess undergraduate and postgraduate courses in IT, Cybersecurity, AI, ML, and Data Science.

Candidates with a PhD or Master’s in a related field and at least two years of tertiary teaching experience are encouraged; strong programming in Python and cloud/AI tools are welcome indicators.

• Guide and support students in academic work, projects, and applications.
• Assess performance and provide timely feedback; update course materials as needed.

Job description

Design, develop, and deliver engaging undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, and related areas.

Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, practical sessions, laboratory activities, and assessments.

Develop and update course materials, lecture notes, assignments, projects, and other learning resources in line with MQA and university standards.

Guide and support students in academic work, programming, software development, cybersecurity activities, projects, and AI-related applications.

Assess and monitor students’ academic performance, engagement, and progress, providing appropriate feedback and guidance.

Incorporate practical IT tools, programming platforms, cybersecurity technologies, AI tools, and industry-relevant technologies into teaching and learning.

Support student projects, research activities, and practical applications related to IT, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, and emerging technologies.

Stay updated with developments in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Generative AI, Cloud Computing, Data Science, and other emerging technologies.

Requirements

PhD or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a closely related field.

At least 2 years of tertiary teaching experience in IT, Cybersecurity, AI, Computer Science, or related areas will be an advantage.

Strong knowledge of IT, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, and related technologies, with the ability to teach both theoretical and practical concepts.

Good programming skills, particularly in Python and/or other relevant programming languages.

Familiarity with cybersecurity tools, AI/ML tools and frameworks, cloud technologies, programming platforms, or other relevant IT technologies.

Good communication, presentation, and classroom management skills.

Candidates with relevant industry experience or fresh graduates with strong academic backgrounds in IT, Cybersecurity, AI, or related fields may also be considered.
