Job summary

RoviSys in Malaysia is seeking a Lead Automation/Systems Engineer to act as a software or hardware lead, translating specifications into control system implementations. The role includes mentoring engineers and supporting training plans, with opportunities to manage small projects of 1–3 people.

Expect work with team members, clients, and partners to deliver state-of-the-art control systems across process industries, including building automation and HVAC contexts.

Qualifications

• Self-motivated and able to communicate effectively.
• Minimum 2 years as an engineer with automation exposure.
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead on projects and translate specs into control system implementations.
• Develop software and hardware for control systems.
• Mentor engineers and support training plans.
• Perform engineering calculations, system sizing and equipment selection.
• Develop technical documentation (P&ID, schematics, control panels, architecture).
• Define PLC/DCS configurations and implement control strategies.
• Test and commission control systems on-site.
• Support process control clients in Malaysia and abroad.
• Potentially manage small projects (1–3 engineers).

Job description

A Lead Automation/Systems Engineer at RoviSys will serve as a software or hardware lead on projects, as well as possess the ability to understand functional specifications and/or design specifications and translate that knowledge in the implementation of control systems. A lead engineer will be expected to develop skills required to successfully implement an entire project from both a control system software and hardware standpoint. A Lead Engineer will act as a mentor to Engineers and support training plans for Engineers.

Description of work:

• Work in a team environment with engineers and designers from RoviSys, partners and clients to provide state of the art Control system to improve efficiency, product quality and profitability of process manufacturing.
• Conduct engineering calculations, system sizing and equipment selection.
• Development of technical documentation such as Control Panels, Control System Architecture, System P&ID, Schematics and Specification documentation
• Define and implement programmable logic controller (PLC)/ladder design, distributed control system (DCS) configuration to meet client needs.
• Testing and on-site commissioning of control systems.
• Support of process control clients at sites in Malaysia and aboard.
• Will lead team of engineers and technicians to provide control system solutions for clients.
• Will have opportunities to manage small-scale project of 1-3 people.
• Candidates who posses experience in complex building automation systems, HVAC and other building systems would be advantageous.

Control System Knowledge:

• Industry 4.0 applications.
• Electrical design, Process Control and Building Automation fundamentals.
• Familiarity with Controllers, such as single loop control, PLC, DCS or PC based control.
• IOT devices, communications protocols and connectivity.
• Exposure to Control Theory and some process understanding is helpful but not required.
• Process understanding of batch or continuous process control, combustion control, etc.
• Process understanding of Chiller Controls, HVAC Controls, etc.
• Awareness of process safety, validation and good documentation practices.
• Third-party HMI/SCADA Software, i.e. Ignition, FTView SE, AVEVA System Platform, TIA Portal, etc.
• Others: Network design/administration.

Qualifications:

• Self-motivated, excellent communication skills and enjoy working with people.
• B.S in Engineering, Physics and related fields.
• Min. 2 years as an Engineer with exposure to automation.
