Job Title: Lead / Senior Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer (Data Centre / Mission Critical Focus)

Our client is a international engineering consultancy delivering specialist structural, infrastructural, and MEP services for high-value building projects across world.

Role Purpose:

The Lead / Senior Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer acts as the primary technical authority for wet services and life safety system design across major project portfolios. You will lead end-to-end consultancy deliverables from concept and detailed design through tender documentation and authority approvals, ensuring strict technical compliance, seamless multidisciplinary integration, and robust project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Authority: Own the engineering design, technical reports, hydraulic calculations, and specification approvals for all plumbing, drainage, and active/passive fire protection systems.
• Team Leadership & Quality Assurance: Lead, resource-plan, and mentor a team of engineers, draughtsmen, and BIM specialists while enforcing design standards and QA frameworks.
• Authority & Client Liaison: Serve as the main technical contact for Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ—e.g., BOMBA, local councils, water authorities), clients, project managers, and main contractors.
• Multidisciplinary Coordination: Work alongside Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, and Architectural leads to resolve BIM/Revit clashes, conduct constructability reviews, and implement value engineering solutions.
• Commercial & Risk Oversight: Manage deliverables within budgeted man-hours and timelines, proactively identifying engineering risks and providing mitigation strategies.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline. Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent professional body) is preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 10 years in an engineering consultancy environment, specializing in plumbing, drainage, and fire protection design.
• Standards Expertise: In-depth knowledge of NFPA, British Standards (BS), Malaysian Standards (MS), and local authority regulations (BOMBA, Syabas/water authorities, local councils).
• Sector Experience: Experience in mission-critical environments (e.g., Data Centres, Hospitals, Semi-Con, Railway) is a strong advantage.
• Software Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), and specialized hydraulic calculation tools.
