Job summary

TKR Engineering Sdn Bhd seeks a Lead/Senior Drilling Supervisor to plan, coordinate, and execute drilling operations safely in line with the approved programme and client expectations. You will lead drilling personnel, contractors, and service companies, ensuring well integrity, safety, and cost‑effective performance during the campaign.

The role requires extensive offshore drilling experience, strong leadership, and a proven track record in HPHT/MPD and deepwater operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering fields; Master’s preferred for advanced roles.
• Minimum 15 years drilling experience in Oil & Gas; 10 years offshore; 8 years as Drilling Supervisor.
• Experience with jack-up, semi-submersible, HPHT, MPD and deepwater operations.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Lead drilling operations from rig mobilization to release.
• Execute the approved drilling program and ensure well design compliance.
• Supervise all drilling phases and monitor parameters for safety and efficiency.
• Coordinate casing, cementing, and well control readiness; promote TEAMWORK.

Job description

The Lead / Senior Drilling Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and executing drilling operations safely and efficiently in accordance with the approved drilling programme, company standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations. The role provides operational leadership to drilling personnel, contractors, and service companies while ensuring well integrity, personnel safety, environmental protection, operational excellence, and cost-effective performance throughout the drilling campaign.

2) Key Responsibilities

A.) Operational Leadership

Lead all drilling operations from rig mobilization through rig release.

Execute the approved drilling program.

Ensure compliance with approved well design.

Supervise all drilling phases.

Optimize Rate of Penetration (ROP).

Coordinate daily drilling activities.

Review drilling parameters continuously.

Ensure proper hole cleaning.

Approve operational changes within authority.

Coordinate casing running.

Supervise cementing operations.

Monitor well barriers.

Coordinate well control readiness.

B.) Safety Leadership

Lead daily safety meetings.

Conduct Toolbox Talks.

Ensure Permit to Work compliance.

Verify Job Safety Analysis (JSA).

Ensure Stop Work Authority implementation.

Ensure simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) safety.

Monitor contractor safety performance.

Conduct safety observations.

Promote safety culture.

C.) Well Control

Maintain well integrity.

Ensure BOP readiness.

Review well control drills.

Lead well control responses.

Verify pressure monitoring.

Approve kill procedures.

Supervise all drilling personnel.

Coordinate contractor activities.

Resolve operational conflicts.

Promote teamwork.

Ensure competency compliance.

E.) Contractor Management

Coordinate service companies.

Verify contractor performance.

Review contractor KPIs.

Conduct performance meetings.

Monitor contractor compliance.

F.) Cost Management

Control daily operating costs.

Approve consumables.

Minimize standby costs.

Reduce NPT.

3) Authorities

Approve daily operational plans and drilling activities within delegated authority.

Suspend unsafe work and stop drilling operations when safety is compromised.

Activate emergency response and initiate well control procedures.

Approve operational changes within authorised limits.

Accept or reject contractor work, equipment, and operational deliverables.

Request additional operational resources and elevate technical or operational issues to Management.

4) Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.

Master's Degree in Petroleum Engineering or Engineering Management is an added advantage.

Experience:

Minimum 15 years of drilling experience in the Oil & Gas industry.

Minimum 10 years of offshore drilling experience.

Minimum 8 years in a Drilling Supervisor role.

Experience in jack‑up, semi‑submersible, exploration, development, HPHT, ERD, MPD, and deepwater drilling operations is preferred.

Languages: Good command of English, both written and spoken.

Technical Knowledge:

Well Planning and Drilling Operations

Well Control and Well Integrity Management

HPHT, MPD, Directional Drilling and Deepwater Operations

Cementing, Drilling Fluids, BOP Systems and Drilling Optimisation

Risk Assessment, SIMOPS and HSE Management

Contractor and Client Management

Mandatory certifications including IWCF Level 4, BOSIET/FOET with CA‑EBS, H₂S, Permit to Work, Risk Assessment, Incident Investigation, Medical Fitness, and Offshore Survival.
