Job summary

ABB seeks an experienced Structural Engineer to lead the structural discipline for marine and industrial projects. You will perform analysis, develop drawings and technical docs, and ensure compliance with global codes and customer specifications.

You will coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, oversee procurement and fabrication follow-up, and mentor junior engineers while driving continuous improvement in structural engineering practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of structural engineering experience in Marine & Offshore, FPSO, E-House, Oil & Gas, or industrial facilities.
• Proven expertise in offshore and modular steel structures including FPSO topsides, subsea, and complex systems.
• Advanced proficiency in structural software (SACS, STAAD Pro, ANSYS, ABAQUS) and FEA tools.
• Strong knowledge of structural steel materials, welding standards, fabrication methods, and quality requirements.
• Experience in lifting, rigging, offshore transport, loadout and installation methodologies.
• Understanding fatigue assessment, fracture mechanics, structural integrity management, and code compliance.
• Ability to review/approve calculations and drawings using Navisworks, E3D or SP3D.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as design authority for a structural discipline across multiple projects.
• Perform structural analysis, design calculations, and optimization using industry tools.
• Develop drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with codes (ASTM, EN, API, SOLAS, ABS, DNV, LR) and customer requirements.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate systems and resolve interfaces.
• Manage structural engineering activities through planning, reviews, procurement support, fabrication follow-up, and scheduling.
• Support installation, commissioning and operations by addressing issues and updating as-built docs.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and continuous improvement of practices.
