Job summary

Inya Water Engineering (M) Sdn Bhd in Penang, Malaysia is seeking an experienced Inspector of Works (IOW) to oversee Mechanical & Electrical installations, inspection, and quality assurance on our ongoing project in Penang. You will ensure works comply with drawings, specifications, safety standards and statutory requirements to support timely delivery.

The role requires a Diploma/Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, 5+ years of site inspection experience, and strong communication

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in site inspection, supervision, or construction quality assurance of M&E systems.
• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in water treatment projects is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian regulations, engineering standards and construction practices.
• Familiarity with testing and commissioning activities for M&E systems.
• Excellent communication, coordination and reporting skills.
• Registration as an Inspector of Works (IOW) with the relevant Malaysian authorities is an advantage.
• Proficiency in English and Malay; Mandarin is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections and supervise M&E installations to ensure compliance with designs and codes.
• Monitor workmanship, construction quality and project progress.
• Verify materials, installations, and activities against project requirements.
• Maintain site inspection records, reports, photographs, and diaries.
• Identify defects and ensure timely corrective actions.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants, clients and stakeholders.
• Witness key construction activities such as MEP installations and testing.
• Ensure compliance with all HSE policies and procedures.
