Job summary

Timesconsult is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer in Malaysia to lead electrical engineering and project execution, coordinating with consultants, contractors, suppliers and stakeholders, and ensuring handover after testing and commissioning.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, strong knowledge of power distribution, substations, transformers and switchgear, and proven experience in EPC/EPCC major infrastructure projects with teams across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• BEM registration / Professional Engineer status is an advantage but not mandatory.
• Relevant experience in electrical project engineering, preferably in power, energy, industrial, EPC / EPCC or major infrastructure projects.
• Strong experience in electrical installation, construction, testing and commissioning.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution, substations, transformers, switchgear and electrical systems.
• Proven experience managing contractors, subcontractors, consultants and suppliers.
• Strong ability to review electrical drawings, specifications and technical submissions.
• Experience in managing electrical interfaces within complex projects.
• Strong technical leadership, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee electrical engineering and project execution activities.
• Drive coordination with consultants, contractors, suppliers and project stakeholders.
• Oversee electrical installation, testing, commissioning and handover.
• Review and approve electrical drawings, specifications and construction methodologies.
• Provide technical leadership in resolving complex electrical and site issues.
• Ensure electrical works meet technical, quality, safety and project programme requirements.
• Monitor progress, identify project risks and drive timely resolution.
• Coordinate electrical interfaces across plant, power generation and site infrastructure systems.
• Provide technical direction and support to Project Managers and project teams.
• Mentor and guide Electrical Engineers within the project team.
