Job summary

S&P Global Kuala Lumpur is pursuing an experienced DevOps Engineer to support and expand cloud infrastructure and monitoring frameworks. You will work with DevOps, QA, and development teams to deliver secure, automated solutions and participate in weekend releases when needed.

The role requires hands-on skills in Terraform, Python, Unix shell scripting, and strong AWS knowledge, with exposure to Grafana/Splunk and incident response.

Qualifications

• 7-15 years of DevOps and Software Engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field; relevant certifications.
• Proven experience with AWS, GitHub, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiar with database queries, document-oriented databases; scripting or coding experience a plus.
• Familiarity with monitoring/logging tools such as PagerDuty and Splunk.
• Strong networking and AWS configuration knowledge; proactive problem-solving skills.
• Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment and handle multiple priorities.
• Good written and verbal communication for technical/business audiences.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with software teams to improve reliability, performance, security, and scalability.
• Provide BAU production support and resolve issues from monitoring or user reports.
• Develop scripts in Terraform, Python, and Unix shell to automate tasks.
• Design, implement, and manage infrastructure using Terraform on AWS.
• Write and manage database queries; experience with document-oriented databases is a plus.
• Set up monitoring solutions (Grafana, PagerDuty, Splunk) and respond to incidents.
• Occasionally participate in weekend production releases and coordinate with teams in Europe/Asia.

The Team:

S&P Global Enterprise Data Organization team is a creative team of experts collaborating across divisions and driving continuous improvements in platform innovation and usability.

The Impact:

Joining our team in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the candidate will be responsible for supporting and expanding our cloud infrastructure, monitoring and alerting frameworks, onboarding/migration projects, and interacting with the wider DevOps, QA, and development teams. We are looking for someone with proven DevOps experience who has development and operational skills and can deliver a secure and structured automated solutions to our operational tasks.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with software development teams to improve application reliability, performance, security and scalability.
• Provide BAU Production support, and resolve issues either spotted by monitoring or reported by users before causing business impact
• Develop scripts in Terraform, Python and Unix shell scripting to automate tasks and streamline processes.
• Design, implement, and manage infrastructure using Terraform on AWS cloud platform utilizing best practices
• Comfortable with writing database queries and performing database management with an added advantage of experience in Document-Oriented Data Bases, AWS storage solutions
• Set up and configure monitoring solutions, including Grafana, PagerDuty, Splunk to ensure system health and respond to incidents promptly.
• Availability to occasionally participate in weekend production releases/deployments and availability to sometimes discuss handovers with teams in Europe and Asia at the early mornings or late afternoon.

What We’re Looking For

Basic Qualifications

• 7-15 years of relevant DevOps and Software Engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications.
• Proven experience working with AWS cloud technologies, GitHub, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiar with Database and Database query (Document-Oriented Data Bases experience preferred but not mandatory, good experience on scripting or coding would be a plus)
• Familiarity with monitoring solutions/logging solutions such as PagerDuty/Splunk and other industry-standard tools.
• Lunix and networking knowledge. Good understanding of AWS network configurations such as Routing, DNS, Load Balancing, IAM, security group
• Demonstrated problem-solving ability and a proactive approach to identifying, resolving issues and raising improvement opportunities
• Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment and handle multiple priorities.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, including experience speaking to technical and business audiences.
• Be able to work independently, or drive a group of people, to work on improvement projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional or a comparable AWS certification.
• Certification in an enterprise container platform.
• Certification or demonstrated experience with Amazon DocumentDB or another enterprise-managed document-oriented database service.
• Experience supporting enterprise cloud environments with formal security, governance, incident management, and change-control requirements.
