Job summary

XMU is seeking an Executive for the Media and Communications Office to lead photography projects across campus. The role focuses on capturing events, campus life, and promotional material, while shaping visual storytelling for university communications.

The successful candidate will manage archives and equipment, edit photos with professional software, and mentor student reporters, delivering high-quality work on tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• At least a Diploma or degree in a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in photography, with a portfolio of previous work.
• Experience in event, portrait, campus or lifestyle photography.
• Good understanding of composition, lighting, exposure and visual storytelling.
• Proficient in photo editing software and comfortable operating DSLR/mirrorless cameras and basic photography equipment.
• Responsible, organized and able to work independently, communicate effectively and meet deadline.
• Applicants must submit a portfolio demonstrating their photography work.

Responsibilities

• Produce photography content for the University's website and social media platforms, including event coverage, campus stories, portraits, promotional campaigns and university communications.
• Provide photography coverage for university events, including major events such as Convocation, ceremonies, talks and other institutional events.
• Capture campus, landscape and lifestyle photography for the University's communications and promotional materials.
• Work with the communications team to develop suitable visual approaches for different stories and campaigns.
• Coordinate and mentor student reporters in photography and event coverage, including assigning tasks, providing shooting guidance and reviewing their work.
• Manage and organize photographs, archives and photography equipment, and work outside regular office hours when required.
