Job summary

Fengshi Metal Technology in Penang is seeking an experienced Laser Cut Machine Operator Supervisor to lead daily production, operate laser cutting equipment, and ensure parts meet specifications.

You will read engineering drawings, adjust machine parameters, provide on-the-job training, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement while maintaining safety and quality standards. Overtime and shift work may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years experience in Laser Cut machine operation.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specs.
• Good leadership and the ability to train and supervise a team.

• Set up, operate and monitor Laser Cut machines according to production schedules, drawings and work instructions.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and material requirements.
• Perform machine setup, including material loading, tooling selection and basic parameter adjustments.
• Ensure laser-cut parts meet required quality standards, dimensions and customer specifications.
• Conduct first-piece inspection and perform basic in-process quality checks.
• Troubleshoot basic machine and production issues and report major technical problems to the Supervisor or Maintenance Department.
• Monitor machine performance and carry out routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance.
• Minimise material wastage, scrap and machine downtime while improving productivity and machine efficiency.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of raw materials and finished products.
• Maintain accurate production records, machine reports and relevant documentation.
• Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements and housekeeping standards at all times.
• Lead, guide and supervise Laser Cut Operators and junior team members during daily production activities.
• Provide on-the-job training to new and existing employees on machine operation, work procedures, safety requirements and quality standards.
• Monitor team performance and ensure team members achieve production targets and required quality standards.
• Assist the Supervisor or Production Manager in manpower arrangement, work allocation and daily production planning.
• Identify training needs and provide guidance to improve the technical skills and performance of team members.
• Support continuous improvement activities to enhance productivity, quality, safety and operational efficiency.
• Perform other production-related duties or tasks as assigned by the management.

Job Requirements

• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in Laser Cut machine operation, preferably in the sheet metal manufacturing industry.
• Experience in operating Laser Cut machines and knowledge of machine setup and parameter adjustment.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Good knowledge of different types of sheet metal materials.
• Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in leading, guiding or training production operators or junior technicians is an added advantage.
• Good leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work independently as well as lead and work effectively with a team.
• Responsible, disciplined and able to work under pressure to meet production deadlines.
• Willing to work overtime and shifts when required.
• Strong awareness of workplace safety and quality requirements.
