Qualifications

• Qualification in language teaching or education (TEFL/TESOL or equivalent).
• Fluency in the language(s) you will be teaching, with strong grammar and pronunciation.
• Experience teaching language to diverse ages and proficiency levels.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for rapport with students.
• Ability to work independently and manage classroom dynamics effectively.
• Familiarity with modern language teaching methodologies and educational technology.
• Reliability and organizational skills for deadlines and materials prep.
• Experience with curriculum development or assessment design is advantageous.

About the role

Pusat Bahasa Akasia is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Language Teachers to join our tutoring centre in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. This is a part-time position that offers flexibility whilst making a meaningful impact on students' language learning journey. As a Language Teacher, you will be at the heart of our educational mission, delivering engaging and effective language instruction to learners of various proficiency levels. This role is crucial to our commitment to providing high-quality language education and fostering a love of learning amongst our students.

Key responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging language lessons aligned with curriculum objectives and student learning outcomes

Assess student progress through various evaluation methods and provide constructive feedback to support improvement

Create a positive, inclusive and supportive classroom environment that encourages active participation and confidence in language use

Adapt teaching methods and materials to cater to diverse learning styles and proficiency levels

Develop comprehensive lesson plans with appropriate resources, activities and assessment strategies

Communicate regularly with students and parents regarding progress, challenges and areas for development

Maintain detailed records of student attendance, progress and achievements

Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the overall quality of language instruction

Stay current with language teaching methodologies and professional development opportunities

What we’re looking for

A qualification in language teaching, education or a related field (such as a TEFL, TESOL or equivalent certification)

Fluency in the language(s) you will be teaching, with excellent command of grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation

Proven experience teaching language to learners of varying ages and proficiency levels

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students

Creativity and enthusiasm in developing engaging, interactive lesson content and activities

Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for helping learners succeed

Ability to work independently and manage classroom dynamics effectively

Familiarity with modern language teaching methodologies and educational technology

Reliability and strong organisational skills to meet deadlines and prepare materials in advance

Experience with curriculum development or assessment design is advantageous
