Job summary

Menta Construction Sdn Bhd is seeking a Lab Technician to perform laboratory and field testing on construction materials such as asphalt, concrete, aggregates and soils. You will collect samples, run standard tests, record results, and assist in field density operations while following safety protocols.

The role requires a Diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil Lab Technology and 2–3 years of related experience.

Job description

This role involves performing laboratory and field testing on construction materials including asphalt, concrete, aggregates, and soils. You will conduct routine tests under supervision, record data accurately, maintain equipment, and support field density testing operations while adhering to safety protocols.

Key responsibilities

Collect, prepare, and label samples of asphalt, concrete, aggregates, soils, and other construction materials as directed

Perform routine laboratory tests including Marshall Mix design, extraction, gradation, bulk specific gravity for asphalt

Conduct concrete testing and curing cylinders, slump tests, unit weight, air content

Perform Proctor compaction tests, sieve analysis, moisture content, Atterberg limits for soils and aggregates

Assist with field density testing (Nuclear Gauge) and other in-place tests on soils and asphalt, following all safety protocols

Accurately record test data, observations, and results in lab journals and digital databases

Clean, calibrate, and perform basic maintenance on laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability

Monitor and maintain inventory of lab supplies, samples, and consumables

Keep the lab clean, organized, and safe by following established protocols and properly disposing of waste

Assist in the preparation of daily and weekly test reports for the Senior Technician and Project Management team

Equipment maintenance: Clean, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment. This includes checking for needed supplies and logging maintenance requirements.

Lab organization and cleanliness: Keep the lab clean, organized, and safe by following established protocols and properly disposing of waste.

Record keeping: Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory records of all activities, results, and procedures.

Inventory management: Manage laboratory supplies and reagents, ensuring stocks are well-maintained and properly labeled.

About you

Diploma in Civil Engineering, Civil Lab Technology, or a related field

Minimum 2 to 3 years experience in related field

Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA guidelines at all times, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
