Job summary

Petron Malaysia Refining & Marketing Bhd is seeking dynamic individuals for a laboratory role based in Port Dickson. The position involves performing laboratory testing to ensure quality of process streams and products, recording results, and maintaining lab data in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 standards.

You will handle samples, calibrate equipment, and support investigations while ensuring safety practices and inventory controls are maintained.

Qualifications

• Academic qualification shall be at least SPM level with strong credit in Science subjects, especially in Chemistry and Mathematics or equivalent.
• Preferably 3-5 years’ experience in Laboratory related work.
• Possess good communication skills with good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing to ensure the quality of process streams, finished products and discharged waste in accordance with established procedures and specifications.
• Ensure all test results and laboratory data are accurately recorded, documented and maintained.
• Handle, label, store and retain samples appropriately in accordance with laboratory procedures.
• Review and compare test results against established targets, standards and specifications, and communicate any deviations to the relevant personnel.
• Prepare, standardize and maintain laboratory reagents according to specified testing methods.
• Maintain laboratory equipment in good and accurate operating condition, including performing routine calibration and basic troubleshooting.
• Monitor and maintain an adequate inventory of laboratory chemicals and supplies.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing to ensure the quality of process streams, finished products and discharged waste in accordance with established procedures and specifications
• Ensure all test results and laboratory data are accurately recorded, documented and maintained
• Handle, label, store and retain samples appropriately in accordance with laboratory procedures
• Review and compare test results against established targets, standards and specifications, and communicate any deviations to the relevant personnel
• Prepare, standardize and maintain laboratory reagents according to specified testing methods
• Prepare quality, inspection and summary reports, including reports for non-routine samples, cross-check programs, and minor technical experiments
• Maintain laboratory equipment in good and accurate operating condition, including performing routine calibration and basic troubleshooting
• Maintain testing equipment and processes under Statistical Quality Control (SQC) requirements
• Support minor technical investigations and experiments to assist in troubleshooting plant-related issues
• Maintain and implement the Laboratory Quality Management System in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements
• Monitor and maintain an adequate inventory of laboratory chemicals and supplies
• Ensure compliance with all safety requirements, laboratory procedures, and good housekeeping practices, including conducting safety talks where required

Requirements

• Academic qualification shall be at least SPM level with strong credit in Science subjects, especially in Chemistry and Mathematics or equivalent
• Preferably 3-5 years’ experience in Laboratory related work
• Possess good communication skills with good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia
• Possess valid driver's license
• Technical knowledge required in relevant field
• Willing to work in a shift cycle
• Willing to be based at Port Dickson Refinery
