Job summary

SARAWAK OIL PALMS BERHAD is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support plant tissue culture activities in our controlled laboratory in Kuching, Malaysia. The role involves daily tasks in media preparation, sterile handling, and accurate data recording to ensure reliable culture results.

Candidates should have hands-on plant tissue culture exposure, basic lab tooling familiarity, and the ability to work as part of a team while maintaining strict cleanliness and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and hands-on experience in plant tissue culture are preferred.
• Familiar with basic laboratory tools and equipment is an added advantage.
• Able to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy, and work effectively in a team environment.
• Willing to work in a controlled laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily laboratory tasks, including media preparation, preparation of stock solution media, autoclaving, and equipment washing)
• Perform culture transfers under the laminar flow cabinet in a sterile manner
• Monitor and inspect culture for contamination or abnormalities
• Accurately record daily work transaction and laboratory data
• Maintain cleanliness through routine housekeeping and cleaning of the laboratory
