Job summary

Masih Jaya Sdn Bhd is seeking an Assistant Mechanic to join our Lahad Datu workshop in Sabah. The role supports the Mechanic with maintenance, servicing, and repair of machinery to ensure smooth operations and safety.

The ideal candidate has basic knowledge of tools and equipment, a willingness to learn, and good teamwork and problem-solving abilities. Outstation deployment may be required.

Qualifications

• Certificate or qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or related field is an advantage.
• Previous experience in a workshop or mechanical maintenance environment is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical tools, machinery, and equipment is desirable.
• Willingness to learn maintenance, servicing, and repair techniques.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual work.
• Willing to work in various environmental conditions.
• Good communication skills and a responsible attitude.
• Willing to work overtime when required.
• Valid Manual driving licence would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Mechanic in performing routine maintenance and inspections on machinery and equipment.
• Assist in diagnosing mechanical faults and identifying potential equipment problems.
• Support repair, servicing, and replacement of machinery components, including engines, hydraulic systems, and transmission units.
• Prepare tools, equipment, and spare parts required for maintenance and repair work.
• Assist in dismantling, cleaning, repairing, and reassembling mechanical components.
• Carry out basic maintenance tasks, including lubrication, cleaning, and checking equipment conditions.
• Assist in identifying worn or damaged parts and replacing them when required.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the workshop, tools, and equipment.
• Assist in maintaining maintenance records and documentation.
• Follow all safety procedures and regulations when handling machinery, tools, and hazardous materials.
• Work closely with the Mechanic and other team members to minimise equipment downtime.
• Perform other workshop-related duties as assigned by the superior.
• Willing to be stationed outstation when required.
