Job summary

Al-Ikhsan Sports Sdn Bhd is seeking an Interior Designer to plan, design, and execute retail store layouts and fit-out projects in Malaysia. You will develop design concepts, produce technical drawings, and coordinate with consultants, suppliers, and contractors to ensure projects meet standards, budget, and timelines.

The role involves creating 3D visualizations, attending site meetings, and supporting store rollouts from openings to closures with rigorous documentation and progress tracking.

Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field.
• Retail store design and fit-out experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of design standards and permits.
• Proficiency in creating concept boards and detailed drawings.

Responsibilities

• Develop retail store concepts, layouts, and space planning.
• Produce conceptual design presentations, mood boards, and material proposals.
• Prepare detailed technical drawings (layout, furniture, flooring, elevations, joinery).
• Coordinate with project team, contractors, consultants, suppliers and stakeholders.
• Attend site meetings, inspect sites, review shop drawings, and monitor progress.
• Support store rollouts: openings, renovations, relocations, closures; prepare as-built drawings.
• Maintain project documentation and drawing revisions; update progress reports.
• Produce 3D visuals using SketchUp or equivalent; prepare management-ready presentations.

The Interior Designer is responsible for planning, designing, and executing retail store layouts and fit-out projects for Al-Ikhsan Sports. The role involves developing design concepts, producing technical drawings, coordinating with consultants, suppliers, contractors, and ensuring projects are completed according to company standards, budget, and timeline.

Key Responsibilites

Design & Planning

Develop retail store concepts, layouts, and space planning according to company branding and operational requirements.

Produce conceptual design presentations, mood boards, and material proposals.

Prepare detailed technical drawings including:

• Layout Plans
• Furniture Layout Plans
• Flooring Plans
• Elevations
• Joinery Details

Ensure drawings comply with mall and local authority requirements.

Project Coordination

Coordinate with Project Team, contractors, consultants, suppliers, landlords, and internal stakeholders.

Attend site meetings and conduct site inspections throughout project stages.

Review contractor shop drawings and material submissions.

Monitor site progress and ensure work quality meets design intent.

Store Rollout

Support new store openings, renovations, relocations, and closures.

Conduct site measurements and prepare as-built drawings.

Ensure projects are delivered within schedule and budget.

Resolve on-site design and construction issues promptly.

Documentation

Maintain accurate project documentation and drawing revisions.

Prepare BOQ (Bill of Quantities) when required.

Organize project files and drawing archives.

Update project progress reports.

Visual & Presentation

Produce 3D visualizations using SketchUp or equivalent software.

Prepare presentation materials for management approval.

Recommend finishes, fixtures, furniture, and lighting solutions.

Liaise with contractors and suppliers regarding quotations and technical requirements.

Evaluate workmanship and materials during construction.

Assist in contractor performance evaluation.

Education

Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Industrial Design, or equivalent.
