Job summary

Social Multiway Sdn Bhd is seeking a Java Backend Developer specialising in Spring Boot, Microservices and Gamification to join our Kuala Lumpur team. You will design, develop and maintain robust backend systems powering innovative digital solutions, focusing on scalable microservices and gamification features to boost user engagement.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of Java backend experience, with strong Spring Boot expertise and RESTful API design.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
2+ years of professional experience in Java backend development.
Strong expertise in Spring Boot framework and microservices architecture.
Experience with RESTful API design and development.
Proficiency in relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL or Oracle.
Familiarity with version control systems, preferably Git.
Understanding of software design patterns and SOLID principles.
Experience with gamification concepts and user engagement strategies (preferred).
Knowledge of containerisation technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes (preferred).
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices (preferred).
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Experience with agile development methodologies.

Responsibilities

Design and develop scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot framework.
Build and maintain microservices architecture to ensure system modularity, scalability and resilience.
Develop gamification features and mechanics that enhance user engagement and retention.
Write clean, maintainable and well-documented code adhering to established coding standards.
Participate in code reviews and collaborate with team members to ensure code quality and knowledge sharing.
Troubleshoot, debug and optimise existing backend systems for performance and reliability.
Work with databases and implement efficient data storage and retrieval mechanisms.
Integrate third-party APIs and services to extend application functionality.
Participate in the full software development lifecycle from requirements analysis to deployment and maintenance.
Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
