Job summary

X-FAB Sarawak is looking for an IT Systems Engineer to manage our Windows server environment, virtualization platforms, backup solutions and storage systems in Kuching. You will ensure high availability, performance and recoverability of mission-critical infrastructure used by manufacturing and business operations.

The role includes contributing to infrastructure modernization, disaster recovery readiness, cybersecurity compliance, and operational excellence across the IT stack.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, IT or related field is required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience supporting enterprise server infrastructure and virtualization.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server administration, VMware, SAN storage and backup technologies.
• Experience with security hardening, DR planning and ISO 27001 concepts is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Windows Server environments, provisioning, patching and lifecycle management.
• Manage VMware vSphere and Proxmox VE environments, including upgrades and capacity planning.
• Administer SAN storage, monitor performance and perform firmware updates.
• Operate Veeam Backup & Replication, verify backups and conduct DR testing.
• Implement security hardening, maintain documentation and support incident resolution.
• Support infrastructure monitoring, log management and asset inventory.

Your Role

• Windows Server Administration
• Administer and maintain Microsoft Windows Server environments.
• Perform server provisioning, configuration, patching and lifecycle management.
• Monitor system health, capacity utilization and performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure incidents within agreed service levels.
• Perform preventive maintenance and system hardening.
• Manage Active Directory integration, Windows services and server security configurations.
• Virtualization Platform Administration
• Administer and maintain VMware vSphere environments.
• Support implementation and migration activities involving Proxmox Virtual Environment (PVE).
• Provision, modify and decommission virtual machines.
• Monitor virtualization platform health, resource utilization and availability.
• Perform platform upgrades, patching and lifecycle management.
• Participate in virtualization modernization and cost optimization initiatives.
• Enterprise Backup & Recovery Administration
• Administer Veeam Backup & Replication infrastructure.
• Ensure successful execution and monitoring of backup jobs.
• Perform periodic backup verification and restoration testing.
• Maintain backup policies in accordance with Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) requirements.
• Support Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises and recovery validation.
• Enterprise Storage Administration
• Administer SAN and enterprise storage infrastructure.
• Provision storage resources for servers and virtual environments.
• Monitor storage capacity, performance and health.
• Perform firmware upgrades and storage maintenance activities.
• Support storage optimization, expansion planning and lifecycle management.
• Infrastructure Monitoring & Asset Management
• Maintain infrastructure monitoring using enterprise monitoring platforms.
• Ensure all assigned infrastructure assets are monitored and operational alerts are properly configured.
• Support centralized log management initiatives.
• Maintain accurate infrastructure asset inventory and configuration records.
• Produce operational reports and capacity analysis where required.
• Infrastructure Security & Compliance
• Support ISO 27001 implementation and compliance activities.
• Perform infrastructure security hardening and vulnerability remediation.
• Ensure systems comply with company cybersecurity standards.
• Support periodic security assessments and audit activities.
• Maintain technical documentation including architecture diagrams and operating procedures.
