Job summary

ams OSRAM Group in Penang seeks an experienced IT professional to develop and implement Fault Detection and Classification (FDC) strategies for our factories, with a focus on backend systems. You will sustain existing FDC applications, translate customer requirements into IT projects for advanced process control, and ensure on-time, high-quality results within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in semiconductor industry.
• Strong expertise in Fault Detection & Classification (FDC), preferably with Onto Innovation.
• Experience in Requirements Engineering; SECS/GEM knowledge is a plus.
• Good understanding of IT systems and technologies (SQL, Oracle, Linux, Python).
• Must be highly motivated, proactive, and able to own applications and projects; act as interface between teams.
• Excellent English communication, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement FDC strategies in our factories, esp. Backend.
• Sustain and support existing FDC applications.
• Analyze customer requirements and translate into IT project deliverables for advanced process control.
• Ensure timely delivery of project results within quality and budget.
• Analyze, evaluate, and optimize IT systems and processes.
• Manage software changes and testing/implementation.
• Collaborate with vendors to specify manufacturing requirements and track implementation.
• Diagnose and document technical problems with possible external partner support.

Your new responsibilities

• Development and implementation of Fault Detection and Classification (FDC) strategies in our factories esp. Backend.
• Sustainable support of our existing FDC applications.
• Processing and evaluating customer requirements and their implementation in IT projects in the area of advanced process control in production.
• Responsible for the timely delivery of project results in appropriate quality and within the project budget.
• Analysis, evaluation and optimization of IT systems and processes.
• Responsible for software changes and their testing/implementation.
• Support the specification of manufacturing requirements, prioritize them with the software vendor and track implementation.
• Analyze, resolve and document technical problems, if necessary in collaboration with external partners.

What we look for

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the semiconductor industry.
• Strong expertise in Fault Detection & Classification (FDC), preferably with hands-on experience using Onto Innovation solutions.
• Experience in Requirements Engineering, with basic knowledge of SECS/GEM considered an advantage.
• Good understanding of IT systems and technologies, including SQL, Oracle, Linux, Python, and scripting languages.
• Highly motivated and proactive, with the ability to take ownership of applications and projects while serving as a key interface between Process Engineering and Automation teams.
• Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken, is mandatory.
