Job summary

Hong Leong Bank Berhad is seeking an IT Project Manager to lead end-to-end delivery of IT initiatives across the bank. You will partner with leaders to plan, budget, schedule and resource-load projects, ensuring on-time, within-budget delivery and alignment with business strategy.

You will oversee governance, SDLC processes, risk management and reporting to the Head of Project Management Office, coordinating with cross-functional teams and external partners to deliver value for customers.

Qualifications

• IT qualification/degree or diploma required.
• PMP certification preferred.
• 4+ years PM experience, banking/financial services sector preferred.
• Wealth Management domain knowledge is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
• Familiarity with PM software tools and SDLC methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop the project schedule and plan to ensure timely completion.
• Manage delivery within the budget and timescales across the software development lifecycle.
• Coordinate internal business/technical resources and external/vendor resources.
• Oversee domain-specific technology projects (e.g., wealth management, digital banking).
• Lead resources to ensure efficiency and achievement of objectives.
• Identify and manage risks and issues with relevant teams.
• Prepare concise management status reports reflecting progress.
• Govern the Change Management process to control project scope.

Overview:

As part of a dynamic team of professionals responsible for delivering Hong Leong Bank’s IT related initiatives, the IT Project Manager will work with leaders and teams across the organization to develop and deliver value added projects and programmes that will improve our business, our culture and our ability to best serve our customers for the long term. We are looking for confident Project Managers who would be responsible for managing the overall deliverables for an assigned project, including budgeting, scheduling and resource loading. Project management activities include estimation, planning/scheduling, progress reporting, and coordination with various business, operations and technical disciplines. The Project Manager must understand the overall direction, priority, and schedules to execute the project and work with various discipline leads to deliver successful solutions to the stakeholders. This role reports to the Head of Project Management Office. Other key responsibilities are as detailed below:

Responsibilities:

• Develop the project schedule and plan to ensure timely completion of the project.
• Effectively planning and managing assigned projects, ensuring delivery within agreed budget and timescales through all stages of the software development lifecycle.
• Planning and coordinating the engagement of all project resources including internal business/technical resources and vendor/external resources.
• Overseeing and delivering domain-specific technology projects (e.g., Wealth Management platforms, digital banking, or business solutions) as assigned.
• Proactively leading resources to ensure that they are working efficiently and achieving the objectives set for them.
• Managing risks and issues which have been identified by engaging the relevant teams.
• To prepare Management status reports which are accurate and concise to reflect project progress.
• Govern the Change Management process to ensure the original project scope is tightly controlled.
• Conduct project post mortems & create a recommendations report.

Skills & Experience We Are Looking For:

• Professional IT qualification/IT degree/related degree or diploma.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
• More than 4 years of Project Management experience, preferably within the Banking/Financial Services sector, though candidates from other sectors are also welcomed to apply.
• Prior experience or domain knowledge in Wealth Management (e.g., unit trust, investment platforms, advisory tools) will be an added advantage.
• Proven ability to solve problems creatively.
• Familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices.
• Experience seeing projects through the entire Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• Excellent analytical skills and experience presenting to Senior Management stakeholders.
• Strong interpersonal skills and resourceful in finding solutions or leveraging on existing teams’ skillsets to advance the project.
