Job summary

MLM Packaging Sdn. Bhd. invites applications for an IT & Data Analytics Intern to support data, reporting, Excel, and IT-driven projects. The role focuses on data analytics, Excel calculations, and process improvements within a dynamic packaging solutions environment.

You will work with real company data to improve calculations, reporting, and data solutions, gaining hands-on experience in dashboards and BI concepts while learning IT workflows and automation tools.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Diploma/Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Statistics, or related field.
• Good understanding of Microsoft Excel.
• Strong interest in Data Analytics and Business Intelligence.
• Basic understanding of data cleaning, data structuring, calculations, and analysis.
• Willingness to learn new IT and data-related tools.

Responsibilities

• Data Analytics & Data Management: Collect, organize, clean, and validate data from different sources.
• Structure and maintain datasets for accuracy and consistency.
• Identify data issues and assist in resolving them.
• Perform basic data analysis to identify trends and insights.
• Prepare data summaries for management and internal teams.
• Maintain data documentation and calculation logic.
• Excel & Calculations: Develop and maintain Excel spreadsheets, create formulas, pivot tables, dashboards.
• Develop reusable Excel templates for standardization.
• Improve existing spreadsheets for structure and usability and troubleshoot issues.
• Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports and convert raw data into meaningful tables and visuals.
• Support Power BI dashboards and data visualization.
• IT & Process Improvement: Collaborate with IT to support data/system projects and automate repetitive tasks.
• Assist in data migration, consolidation, and restructuring.
• Document system processes, data structures, and workflows.

Internship Opportunity – IT & Data Analytics Intern

We are looking for a motivated and analytical IT & Data Analytics Intern to join our team and support various data, reporting, Excel, and IT-related projects.

This role is suitable for students who are interested in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Microsoft Excel, data management, reporting, and IT process improvement. You will have the opportunity to work with real company data, improve existing calculation and reporting processes, and assist in developing more structured and efficient data solutions.

What you'll be doing

Data Analytics & Data Management

Collect, organize, clean, and validate data from different sources.

Structure and maintain datasets to ensure data is accurate, consistent, and easy to analyze.

Identify missing, duplicated, inconsistent, or incorrect data and assist in resolving data issues.

Perform basic data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and useful business insights.

Assist in preparing data summaries and analysis for management and internal teams.

Maintain proper data documentation, definitions, and calculation logic.

Microsoft Excel & Calculations

Develop and maintain Excel spreadsheets for business and operational requirements.

Create and improve Excel formulas for calculations and data processing.

Work with functions such as XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, IF/IFS, SUMIFS, COUNTIFS, FILTER, TEXT, and other relevant functions.

Create and maintain Pivot Tables, Pivot Charts, dashboards, and data summaries.

Develop reusable Excel templates to standardize calculations and reporting.

Review existing spreadsheets and improve their structure, formulas, and usability.

Assist in troubleshooting Excel calculation and data-related issues.

Reduce manual work by developing more efficient Excel-based solutions.

Assist in preparing daily, weekly, and monthly reports.

Convert raw data into meaningful tables, summaries, and visual reports.

Assist in developing dashboards and KPI reports.

Support the preparation of management reports and business performance analysis.

Assist in identifying opportunities to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.

Where applicable, assist with Power BI dashboards and data visualization.

IT & Process Improvement

Work closely with the IT team to support data-related and system-related projects.

Assist in improving internal workflows and data processes.

Support data migration, consolidation, and restructuring projects.

Assist in documenting system processes, data structures, workflows, and calculation methods.

Identify repetitive manual tasks and explore opportunities for automation.

Assist with Microsoft 365, Power Automate, VBA, or other tools used for process automation.

Support other IT and data-related projects as assigned

What we're looking for

Currently pursuing a Diploma/Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Statistics, or a related field.

Good understanding of Microsoft Excel.

Strong interest in Data Analytics and Business Intelligence.

Basic understanding of data cleaning, data structuring, calculations, and analysis.

Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Able to work with large amounts of data and identify inconsistencies.

Willing to learn new IT and data-related tools.

Able to work independently and as part of a team.
