Job summary

Western Digital invites a motivated Engineering Intern to join our Kuching, Malaysia team. The role offers hands-on exposure to data analytics, industrial automation, and data science within our Early Career program, helping you build foundational skills through mentorship and structured onboarding.

You will assist in automating manufacturing processes, analyze data for process improvements, and contribute to documentation while learning Industry 4.0 concepts in a real-world setting.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Data Science, AI, Statistics, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Software Eng, Information Systems.
• Strong interest in industrial automation and control systems.
• Basic understanding of programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL, Power BI/Tableau, basic ML (trend, anomaly), APIs, dashboards, low‑code automation tools).

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing automation solutions for manufacturing processes
• Collaborate on the programming and testing of automated systems
• Support data collection and analysis for process improvement initiatives
• Participate in the troubleshooting process issues
• Contribute to the documentation of automated processes and procedures
• Support the team in research on emerging automation or data science technologies
