Job summary

Jabil, a global engineering, supply chain and manufacturing leader, is offering a Software Development Services (SDS) Intern – Finance GL role in Penang. Work with the GL team on month-end closing and data analytics across regions.

You will assist in data collection, reconciliation, and reporting, and AP processes under a mentor, gaining hands-on experience with accounting concepts and Excel. Mandarin is a plus, and SAP/Power BI familiarity is optional.

Responsibilities

• Support daily GL operations and month-end closing activities for assigned entities/sites under supervision.
• Coordinate collection, preparation and validation of financial data with stakeholders and PICs to ensure completeness and timeliness.
• Assist in data analysis, reconciliations and reporting to support accurate financial records.
• Support finance-related projects, process improvements, and ad hoc assignments as required.
• Assist and support AP processes.
• Adhere to policies and maintain confidentiality of financial information.
• Manage multiple tasks and priorities, especially during peak month-end closing periods.
• Participate in training with a dedicated mentor to build professional skills.

Software Development Services (SDS) Intern – Job Description

Join our Finance General Ledger (GL) team and work on impactful projects leveraging fundamental accounting concepts and principles across regions such as Asia, Europe and Americas . This internship offers exposure to real-time project implementations in GL month-end closing activities, as well as data analytics for future projects’ decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support daily General Ledger (GL) operations and month-end closing activities for assigned entities/sites under the guidance of supervisors and full-time employees (FTEs)
• Coordinate the collection, preparation, and validation of financial data, while liaising with stakeholders and PICs to ensure information is complete and submitted on time
• Assist in data analysis, reconciliations, and reporting activities to support accurate financial records and smooth closing processes
• Support finance-related projects, process improvement initiatives, and other ad hoc assignments as required
• Assist and support on Accounts Payable (AP) processes
• Adhere to company policies, internal controls, and compliance requirements while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality of financial information
• Effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities, especially during peak month-end closing periods with tight timelines
• Participate actively in training and development opportunities while working closely with a dedicated mentor to build professional skills

What We’re Looking For:

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or related fields of study
• Basic understanding of accounting concepts (e.g. accruals, amortization, allocations)
• Microsoft Excel proficiency
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight month-end closing deadlines
• Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced environment

- Mandarin proficiency is an added advantage

Optional Skills:

• Knowledge and interest in SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems
• Experience with Power BI or other reporting/analytics tools
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (e.g. Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP)
• Previous internship, project, or coursework related to accounting or finance
