Job summary

Southern Medical Group in Johor Bahru is seeking a proactive interior design trainee to support the full workflow from concept to project completion. You will help develop concepts, create 2D/3D drawings, source materials, and assist with client briefs.

The role offers hands-on experience, exposure to site coordination, and collaboration with suppliers and contractors. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply and training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum SPM, Diploma, or equivalent qualification.
• Passed Bahasa Malaysia, English, and Chinese subjects in SPM.
• Able to communicate, read, and write in Mandarin, English, and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Responsible, trustworthy, and able to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Able to work independently with minimum supervision and as part of a team.
• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing interior design concepts, space planning, floor plans, layouts, and 3D visualisations.
• Prepare and revise 2D technical drawings, elevations, joinery details, and other design documentation.
• Assist with site measurements, site visits, and site coordination.Source and select suitable materials, finishes, furniture, lighting, and accessories according to project requirements and budget.
• Assist in preparing quotations, presentations, material boards, project documents, and other design-related materials.
• Communicate with clients to understand their design requirements, preferences, and expectations.
• Assist in presenting design concepts and material selections to clients and following up on feedback and approvals.
• Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, carpenters, installers, and site teams to ensure smooth project execution.
• Monitor project progress and assist with follow-ups from design development through to project completion.
• Assist in resolving design, carpentry, material, and site coordination issues.
• Conduct research on interior design trends, materials, and creative design solutions.
• Learn and gain hands-on experience in the complete interior design workflow from concept development to project completion.
• Perform other design and project-related duties as assigned by the Senior Designer or Project Manager.
