Job summary

Ocean Vantage Engineering Sdn. Bhd. seeks an Instrument Engineer to support instrumentation, control, maintenance and project activities across sites in Malaysia.

You will work with Operations, Maintenance, Electrical, Mechanical and Project teams to ensure safe, compliant and efficient instrumentation work. Responsibilities include calibration, commissioning, troubleshooting, data sheet reviews and coordination with contractors.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering (Instrumentation) or equivalent.
• Experience in instrumentation, control systems, maintenance, commissioning or industrial operations.
• Good understanding of instrumentation, measurement, control systems and maintenance practices.
• Ability to read instrument drawings, P&IDs, datasheets, specifications and technical documents.
• Strong written and verbal communication, analytical and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for instrumentation, control, maintenance, and project activities.
• Plan, coordinate, and monitor instrumentation maintenance, calibration, testing and repair works.
• Support inspection, troubleshooting and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems.
• Review datasheets, drawings, specifications and procedures.
• Assist in identifying issues and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Support calibration, testing, commissioning and functional checks of instrumentation equipment.
• Coordinate with contractors to complete works per requirements.
• Monitor progress, quality and compliance with procedures and specs.
• Prepare technical reports, maintenance records and relevant documentation.
• Support reliability, process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job description

We are looking for a qualified and motivated Instrument Engineer to support instrumentation, control, maintenance, and project activities. The role will provide technical support for instrumentation and control systems, equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and engineering projects to ensure reliable and efficient operations.

The successful candidate will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Electrical, Mechanical, Project, and other technical teams to ensure instrumentation activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable standards and Company requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Provide technical support for instrumentation, control, maintenance, and project activities.

Plan, coordinate, and monitor instrumentation maintenance, calibration, testing, and repair works.

Support the inspection, troubleshooting, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems.

Review instrument datasheets, drawings, specifications, procedures, and technical documentation.

Assist in identifying instrumentation and control system issues and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions.

Support calibration, testing, commissioning, and functional checks of instrumentation equipment.

Coordinate with contractors and service providers to ensure instrumentation works are completed according to approved requirements.

Monitor work progress, quality, and compliance with approved procedures and specifications.

Prepare and maintain technical reports, maintenance records, work scopes, and relevant instrumentation documentation.

Support equipment reliability, process improvement, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.

Ensure instrumentation activities comply with HSSE, QA/QC, regulatory, and Company requirements.

Participate in site inspections, technical meetings, commissioning, and project coordination activities.

Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by Management from time to time.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

Degree in Engineering (Instrumentation) or equivalent qualification.

Experience in instrumentation, control systems, maintenance, commissioning, or industrial operations will be an advantage.

Good understanding of instrumentation, measurement, control systems, and maintenance practices.

Ability to read and interpret instrument drawings, P&IDs, datasheets, specifications, and technical documents.

Knowledge of calibration, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of instrumentation equipment.

Good analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Good written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organizational and coordination skills.

Able to work independently and effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Willing to work at operational and project sites when required.
