Job summary

Flex is seeking an Industrial Engineer to support its Johor operations at Flex PTP. The role focuses on process time estimation, NPI planning, and improving throughput while controlling costs.

The ideal candidate has around two years of engineering experience in electronics, with knowledge of takt time, line balancing, and lean manufacturing. The position involves coordinating with engineering and sales teams to optimize production.

Qualifications

• Typically requires 2 years of engineering experience in high technology electronics with end-to-end Industrial Engineer exposure.
• Knowledge of cycle time, line balancing, takt time calculation, layout design.

Responsibilities

• Provides process time estimation to the quote team.
• Simulates processes, materials and workflow; provides input to process engineers.
• Coordinates process planning for NPI with respect to takt, cycle time, direct labor.
• Reviews prototyping results and provides feedback to NPI and sales teams.
• Develops work measurement programs and establishes labor standards.
• Assesses staff utilization, facility layouts, and production data to optimize resources.
• Recommends methods to improve worker efficiency and reduce waste, including restructuring tasks and workflows.

Job description

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Industrial Engineer located in Flex PTP, Johor.

What a typical day looks like:

Provides process time estimation to the quote team.

Simulates process, materials and manufacturing workflow and gives input to process engineers by using REFA, MOST, WITNESS and/or adequate tools.

During NPI coordinates process planning and set up with respect to takt, cycle time and direct labor requirement.

Reviews result duringprototypingand trial runs and gives feedback to NPI and sales team.

Work measurementprograms and examine work samples to develop standards for labor utilization.

Examines staff utilization, facility layout, and operational data, such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to define efficient utilization of workers and equipment.

Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizingworkflow, relocation workstations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.

Confer with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations.

May develop management systems for cost reviews, financial planning, wage and salary administration, and job evaluation.

Develops management control systems to aid in financial planning and cost reviews, and design production planning and control systems to coordinate activities and ensure product quality.

Design or improve systems for the physical distribution of goods and services, as well as defining the most efficient plant locations.

Manages and supports initiatives to increase throughput, reduce costs and improve performance in constrained areas like Lean, Automation and/or Six Sigma projects.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team

Typically requires 2 years of experience in engineering in the high technology electronics industry with end-to-end Industrial Engineer experience.

Equipped with related knowledge or experience on the cycle time, line balancing, Takt Time calculation, Layout design.

Proficient to perform calculation for material replenishment, and understand on VSM and lean manufacturing

Able to work independently to solve task related with IE such as headcount calculation, cycle time, process improvement
