Job summary

Flex is seeking an Industrial Engineer in Johor to support process planning, time estimation, and production optimization within Flex PTP.

You will work with NPI teams, analyze workflow, and implement improvements to reduce costs and increase throughput, leveraging Lean, Six Sigma, and automation projects.

Fresh Mechanical Engineering grads welcome; bachelor degree required and strong problem-solving skills encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in related field.

• Able to analyze and optimize production workflows.

Responsibilities

• Provide process time estimation to the quote team.
• Simulate processes and workflows to support process engineers.
• Coordinate process planning for NPI with respect to takt and cycle time.
• Review prototyping results and feedback to teams.
• Develop standards for labor utilization and reduce waste.
• Analyze facility layout and production schedules to improve efficiency.
• Suggest methods to improve worker efficiency and reduce material costs.
• Collaborate with management to implement improvement plans.
• Support cost reviews and production planning systems.
• Define efficient plant locations and distribution systems.
• Lead Lean, Automation and/or Six Sigma projects.

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add an Industrial Engineer located in Flex PTP, Johor.

What a typical day looks like

• Provides process time estimation to the quote team.
• Simulates process, materials and manufacturing workflow and gives input to process engineers by using REFA, MOST, WITNESS and/or adequate tools.
• During NPI coordinates process planning and set up with respect to takt, cycle time and direct labor requirement.
• Reviews result during prototyping and trial runs and gives feedback to NPI and sales team.
• Work measurement programs and examine work samples to develop standards for labor utilization.
• Examines staff utilization, facility layout, and operational data, such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to define efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
• Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocation workstations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
• Confer with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations.
• May develop management systems for cost reviews, financial planning, wage and salary administration, and job evaluation.
• Develops management control systems to aid in financial planning and cost reviews, and design production planning and control systems to coordinate activities and ensure product quality.
• Design or improve systems for the physical distribution of goods and services, as well as defining the most efficient plant locations.
• Manages and supports initiatives to increase throughput, reduce costs and improve performance in constrained areas like Lean, Automation and/or Six Sigma projects.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• Typically requires a Bachelor degree in related field or equivalent experience and training.
• Fresh graduates in Mechanical Engineering are welcome to apply.
• Demonstrates understanding on advanced functional and technical skills and basic process skills.
• Typically requires skill and troubleshooting, and diagnostics, and overview of the entire test process and the ability to train others.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
