Job summary

Flex is seeking an Industrial Engineer in Prai, Penang to drive productivity by managing processes, methods, and technology. You will work with cross-functional teams to improve cycle times, labor utilization, and cost efficiency in a high-technology electronics environment.

The role emphasizes LEAN, automation, and Six Sigma initiatives, with opportunities to influence plant layouts and production planning while supporting cost analysis and performance improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent training.
• Typically requires 5 years of engineering experience in high technology electronics.
• Experience with lean manufacturing and process optimization is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Simulates processes, materials and manufacturing workflow using REFA, MOST, WITNESS or equivalent tools.
• Coordinate process planning and setup for NPI with takt, cycle time and direct labor requirements.
• Review prototyping results and provide feedback to NPI and sales teams.
• Analyze workforce utilization, facility layout and production data to optimize resources.
• Recommend methods to improve efficiency and reduce waste through job restructuring and workflow changes.
• Collaborate with management and engineering to implement plans and cost analysis.
• Develop management control systems for cost analysis and production planning.
• Design or improve plant layouts and distribution systems; identify optimal plant locations.
• Lead LEAN, Automation and Six Sigma initiatives to boost throughput and cut costs.

Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add an Industrial Engineer in Prai, Penang.

This role is responsible for increasing productivity through the management of workers, methods of business organization, and technology to solve organizational, production, and related problems efficiently.

What a typical day looks like:

• Simulates process, materials and manufacturing workflow and gives input to process engineer by using REFA, MOST, WITNESS and or adequate tools.

• During NPI coordinates process planning and set up with respect to takt, cycle time and direct labor requirement.

• Reviews result during prototyping and trial runs and gives feedback to NPI and sales team.

• Analyzes work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data, such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment.

• Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocation work stations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.

• Confers with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations.

• May develop management systems for cost analysis, financial planning, wage and salary administration, and job evaluation.

• Develops management control systems to aid in financial planning and cost analysis, and design production planning and control systems to coordinate activities and ensure product quality.

• Designs or improve systems for the physical distribution of goods and services, as well as determining the most efficient plant locations.

• Leads and supports initiatives to increase throughput, reduce cost and improve performance in constrained areas like LEAN, Automation and/or 6Sigma projects.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field, technical training, or equivalent education and training.

• Typically requires 5 years of experience in engineering in the high technology electronics industry or related area.
