Job summary

Flextronics - The Flex Company in Malaysia seeks an Industrial Engineer to join its Prai, Penang team. You will drive productivity by optimizing processes, planning for NPI, and implementing cost-saving improvements across production lines.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering and prior experience in high-tech electronics manufacturing. Expect opportunities to contribute to Lean initiatives, process simulations, and workflow optimization.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
• Prior experience in industrial engineering in the high technology electronics industry or related area is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide process time estimation to the quote team.
• Simulate process, materials and manufacturing workflow using REFA, MOST, WITNESS or equivalent tools.
• Coordinate process planning and setup during NPI with respect to takt, cycle time and direct labor.
• Review results during prototyping and trials and give feedback to NPI and sales.
• Develop work measurement programs and examine samples to set labor standards.
• Analyze staff utilization, facility layout and production data to optimize resources.
• Recommend methods to improve worker efficiency and reduce waste of materials and utilities.
• Collaborate with management and engineering to implement plans and recommendations.
• Develop management systems for cost reviews and wage/salary administration.
• Design or improve production planning and control systems for quality coordination.
• Design distribution systems and define efficient plant locations.
• Support Lean, Automation and Six Sigma projects to increase throughput and reduce costs.

Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add an Industrial Engineer located in Prai, Penang. Responsible for increasing productivity through the management of workers, methods of business organization, and technology to solve organizational, production, and related problems efficiently.

What a typical day looks like

• Provides process time estimation to the quote team.
• Simulates process, materials and manufacturing workflow and gives input to process engineer by using REFA, MOST, WITNESS and or adequate tools.
• During NPI coordinates process planning and set up with respect to takt, cycle time and direct labor requirement.
• Reviews result during protyping and trial runs and gives feedback to NPI and sales team.
• Work measurement programs and examines work samples to develop standards for labor utilization.
• Examines staff utilization, facility layout, and operational data, such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to define efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
• Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocation work stations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
• Confers with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations.
• May develop management systems for cost reviews, financial planning, wage and salary administration, and job evaluation.
• Develops management control systems to aid in financial planning and cost reviews, and design production planning and control systems to coordinate activities and ensure product quality.
• Designs or improve systems for the physical distribution of goods and services, as well as defining the most efficient plant locations.
• Manages and supports initiatives to increase throughput, reduce cost and improve performance in constrained areas like Lean, Automation and/or Six Sigma projects.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field. Prior experience in industrial engineering in the high technology electronics industry or related area is preferred.
