Starway International Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur seeks a product designer to conceptualize enclosures, prototype with 3D printing, and produce detailed CAD models and renders. You will translate user needs, hardware constraints, and aesthetics into practical, visually engaging designs.
The role requires experience with 3D CAD tools (Rhino, Fusion 360, SolidWorks) and rendering (KeyShot/Blender), plus hands-on prototyping and a strong portfolio demonstrating design thinking and prototypes.
Conceptualization & Styling: Generate innovative design concepts, sketches, and 3D models for product enclosures, focusing on form, aesthetics, ergonomics, and color, material, and finish (CMF).
Rapid Prototyping: Operate 3D printers (FDM/SLA) to create physical prototypes and mockups for design validation, visual evaluation, and ergonomic testing.
CAD Modeling & Rendering: Develop detailed 3D CAD models and high-quality photorealistic renders for internal design reviews and marketing materials.
User-Centric Design: Translate user needs, functional requirements, and hardware constraints into practical, visually appealing product designs.
Collaborative Design: Work closely with hardware/electronic engineers to ensure outer enclosure designs properly house PCBs, ports, buttons, and thermal vents while maintaining aesthetic integrity.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 1–3 years of experience in product design, hardware design, or consumer electronics prototyping (Fresh graduates with a strong portfolio are welcome).
3D CAD Expertise: Proficiency in 3D surface modeling software such as Rhino 3D, Fusion 360, or SolidWorks.
Rendering Skills: Proficiency in KeyShot, Blender, or similar rendering tools to produce photorealistic product visuals.
Hands-on Prototyping: Experience with 3D printing (slicing software, printer operation, post-processing) and physical prototyping.
Design Fundamentals: Strong sketching ability, solid understanding of ergonomics, and strong attention to visual details.
Portfolio: A digital design portfolio (PDF or link) demonstrating design thinking, sketching, 3D modeling, rendering, and physical prototypes is strictly required.
