Job summary

Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu is seeking an experienced Income Auditor to join our Finance and Audit team in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. This full-time role focuses on ensuring accuracy of revenue across hotel operations and safeguarding financial assets.

You will audit room sales, F&B, and ancillary services, reconcile payments, and ensure compliance with accounting standards. Strong Excel and PMS/POS familiarity are required; professional qualifications are highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, or CIA are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Audit and verify all revenue transactions including room sales, food and beverage, and ancillary services to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Reconcile guest folios, payment records, and accounting entries to identify and investigate discrepancies
• Review POS system reports and PMS data to validate revenue recording
• Monitor cash handling procedures and verify cash collections against recorded transactions
• Prepare detailed audit reports documenting findings, variances, and recommendations for management review
• Investigate revenue leakages, unauthorised adjustments, and unusual transactions
• Ensure compliance with internal audit policies, procedures, and accounting standards
• Coordinate with departmental heads to resolve identified issues and implement corrective actions
• Maintain detailed audit documentation and work papers in accordance with audit trails and regulatory requirements
• Participate in special audit projects and investigations as directed by senior management

About the Role

Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu is seeking an experienced Income Auditor to join our Finance and Audit team on a full-time basis. This is a strategic position based in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all revenue streams across the hotel operations. As Income Auditor, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the organisation's financial assets, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and providing senior management with reliable financial reporting. This position is essential to our commitment to operational excellence and financial governance.

Key Responsibilities

• Audit and verify all revenue transactions including room sales, food and beverage, and ancillary services to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Reconcile guest folios, payment records, and accounting entries to identify and investigate discrepancies
• Review Point of Sale (POS) system reports and property management system (PMS) data to validate revenue recording
• Monitor cash handling procedures and verify cash collections against recorded transactions
• Prepare detailed audit reports documenting findings, variances, and recommendations for management review
• Investigate revenue leakages, unauthorised adjustments, and unusual transactions
• Ensure compliance with internal audit policies, procedures, and accounting standards

What We're Looking For

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, or CIA are highly desirable
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in internal audit, income audit, or revenue assurance roles, preferably within the hospitality or hotel industry
• Strong knowledge of hotel accounting systems, property management systems (PMS), and point-of-sale (POS) platforms
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software; experience with audit management tools is advantageous
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Sound understanding of internal controls, audit procedures, and financial reporting principles
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present findings clearly to management and operational staff
• Integrity, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple audit tasks simultaneously whilst meeting deadlines
• Knowledge of Malaysian accounting standards and hospitality industry best practices is preferred
