In-Process Quality Lead – Assembly & NPI

Job summary

STMicroelectronics Malaysia, located in Johor (Muar), seeks an In-Process Quality Engineer to ensure product quality and process stability across manufacturing. You will lead in-process quality activities, prevent defects, strengthen controls, and collaborate with Process Engineering, Manufacturing, and stakeholders to achieve quality targets.

You will drive 8D actions, manage MRB, support CIs and external excursions, and advance the quality system while contributing to NPI and audits.

Qualifications

• PhD, Master, or Bachelor in Materials Science or Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years working experience as QA in Assembly.
• Experience with Wafer Back grinding/Wafer Saw or Die Attach or Wire Bond is advantageous.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with shopfloor engagement.
• Strong leadership to lead the quality program.
• Knowledge of QA tools including 8D, 3×5 Why, FTA, FMEA, Control Plans, and statistics.
• Qualified quality systems auditor (ISO, IATF, or VDA) to support audits.

Responsibilities

• Lead the QA function for Pre-Assembly and Front-of-Line (FOL) assembly.
• Lead and manage the Assembly MRB including disposition and risk for NCL lots.
• Lead 8D problem-solving for Assembly CARs and internal excursions.
• Manage and support customer incidents and external excursions in Pre-Assembly and FOL.
• Strengthen the Assembly quality system to prevent defects reaching customers.
• Participate in NPI development to ensure manufacturing quality before release.
• Conduct quality system audits and coordinate customer visits/audits.
• Manage change control for Pre-Assembly and FOL with risk assessments and approvals.
• Participate in daily line briefings and quality campaigns to promote zero-defect mindset.
